When EDM duo Dangerdisko and R&B jazz artist Q Sound crossed paths, they created a sense a liberation. Their new single “Free” released on International Women’s Day March 8, is an unexpected collaboration that has got local music followers curious.
Likewise, Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) 2016 nominee; Malaysia-based American artist Q Sound has been known to share his world class talent on stage and in studios with various Malaysian artists.
With their impressive backgrounds and thanks to eager fans, the freshly released single has debuted at #5 on iTunes Top Tracks Malaysia All Genre Chart. Unlike their usual beats, Dangerdisko spins a different tune with Q Sound’s smooth lyrics and vocals on “Free”.
A mix of 21st century Chris Brown and Boys II Men era lyrics gives the new single a modern but familiar retro vibe to listeners.
Celebrating their 10th anniversary as Dangerdisko this year, they’re best known for their bootleg remix of jazz legend Dato’ Sheila Majid song “Sinaran” and thus is no surprise they roped in impressive R&B and jazz maestro Q Sound for another experiment in the genre.
Well, fans will not have to wait too long to watch the visual narrative as the music video is set for a YouTube release on March 12. Directed by Al Ibrahim, the music video will express an interesting artistic narrative surrounding women, love, and freedom of choice simultaneously with International Women’s Day.
‘Free’ will also be the first single off upcoming albums for both Dangerdisko and Q Sound, both set for a 2018 release.
In conjunction with celebrating their new single, Dangerdisko and Q Sound will be hosting a release party at fono, The Zhongshan Building with an exclusive music video premiere at 10 PM, March 9.
