Throughout the month of August, Spotify alongside The Star publication and local influencers such as Bront Palarae, Niki Cheong, and Rina Omar invited all Malaysians to share the songs that best represent the spirit of Malaysia.
Be it songs from local or international acts, Malaysians rose up to the challenge to express their love for our country.
61 songs were selected from the submissions, and the result? Surprising and definitely uplifting. From Judy Garland’s Over The Rainbow to our local hip-hop act called the K-Town Clan with Give 'Em the Ughh!!!, the playlist says it all. Of course, Malaysians never forget National Day classics like Sudirman’s Tanggal 31 Ogos, Sheila Majid’s Legenda and Jaclyn Victor’s Gemilang.
There’s also the latest additions of National Day hits that made it to the #LaguMalaysiaKita playlist too, including Faizal Tahir’s Malaysia and Negaraku by Joe Flizzow, Altimet, SonaOne and Faizal Tahir.
Check out the #LaguMalaysiaKita playlist now, raise our flag and sing along to the songs – loud and proud this Malaysia Day on September 16!
This year’s celebration marked the rebirth of Malaysians that will always be remembered – signifying a new chapter and renewed spirit of Malaysia Boleh!.
