In conjunction with the upcoming holy month of Ramadan Al-Mubarak 1445 Hijrah, KL Tower recently organized a vibrant and flavorful Bubur Lambuk Cooking Competition.
The event took place today and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 17 groups, each consisting of four skilled cooks. This year’s competition featured two categories: the Open Category and the Mosque/Surau Category.
The judging panel comprised renowned chefs: Celebrity Chef Zaidah Mohd Noor, Chef Yang Jamil, and Chef Musa, the Executive Chef from ARAS Restaurant KL Tower.
Mr. Nazli bin Saad, Chief Executive Officer of Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn. Bhd., emphasized the competition’s significance:
“One of the main purposes of organizing this competition is to introduce Bubur Lambuk, a cherished traditional cuisine, to the younger generation. We want to ensure it is not forgotten and remains a part of our culinary heritage amidst today’s era of modernity.
The event was more than just a competition; it was an opportunity for both local and international visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history and cooking methods associated with bubur lambuk. Attendees had the chance to savor a delightful array of recipes prepared by passionate cooks,”
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, KL Tower extended a warm invitation to orphans and asnaf (those eligible for zakat) from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Nur Hati.
The event also included a small financial contribution from KL Tower. The generosity didn’t stop there, as the freshly cooked bubur lambuk was thoughtfully distributed to various deserving recipients.
The competition culminated in a thrilling awards ceremony. The victorious teams took home a total of RM12,000.00 in cash, celebrating their culinary prowess and dedication.
