Garmin Malaysia has once again made history as over 13,000 runners gathered at Dataran Putrajaya for the Garmin Run Asia Series 2025, marking the event’s most successful edition to date.
Themed “From Zero to Hero,” the run continues to inspire Malaysians to embrace endurance, wellness, and community spirit while pushing their limits in health and fitness.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, the Garmin Run Asia Series has become one of the most anticipated running events in Malaysia, uniting a passionate community of runners under one goal — to move with purpose and celebrate progress.
A Regional Celebration of Movement
Following last year’s record-breaking participation of nearly 100,000 runners across nine Asian countries, Garmin Run Asia Series 2025 expanded to ten destinations, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Each event reinforces Garmin’s mission to promote a healthier lifestyle through running and innovative sports technology.
At the Putrajaya flag-off ceremony, Mr. Joe Schrick, Executive Vice President of Fitness & Outdoor at Garmin; Mr. Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager of Garmin Asia; Mr. Sky Chen, Sales Director of Garmin Southeast Asia; Ms. Sheena Sim, Marketing Lead for Malaysia and Singapore; and Mr. Jeremy Leong, Marketing Communications Manager for Fitness, Garmin Malaysia, led the celebrations with infectious energy.
“Garmin Run Asia Series has become more than just a race—it’s a celebration of growth, resilience, and unity,” said Mr. Scoppen Lin.
“Every year, we witness inspiring stories of individuals who overcome challenges, embrace fitness, and build stronger communities. Garmin is proud to be part of that journey, supporting them with technology that empowers progress.”
From Zero to Hero: The Spirit of Garmin Run
The event kicked off at sunrise with an energetic warm-up session led by Fitness First, the official gym partner for this year’s race. Participants then took to the scenic streets of Putrajaya to complete their chosen distances, from casual 5KM runs to competitive 21KM half marathons.
Throughout the morning, the race village was alive with excitement — featuring sponsor activations, wellness zones, recovery areas, and interactive experiences that kept runners and families engaged long after crossing the finish line.
Among the 13,000 participants were elite Malaysian athletes such as Muhaizar Mohamad, a two-time SEA Games medalist, and Yeow Ni Jia, who will represent Malaysia at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December.
Their presence not only inspired fellow runners but also showcased Malaysia’s athletic excellence and the power of perseverance.
Recognising Champions and Building Community
At the finish line, top-performing runners received prizes worth over RM192,000 in cash and products from official partners, including Garmin running watches, aminoVITAL® supplements, and Shokz audio gear.
Yeow Ni Jia, who won the 21KM Men’s Open – Speed Category, shared his excitement after the victory:
“I am very satisfied with my performance today at Garmin Run Asia Series 2025. I achieved my personal best locally, and the atmosphere — running alongside thousands of passionate runners — truly motivated me to go further.”
In addition to elite performances, participants enjoyed lucky draws, music, and social zones celebrating unity and achievement. For Garmin Malaysia, the event served as a powerful reminder of how fitness and technology can connect people from all walks of life.
Expanding the Garmin Running Community Across Malaysia
This year also marked a milestone for Garmin Run Club Malaysia (GRCM), which has expanded beyond the Klang Valley to reach runners in Johor, Penang, and Ipoh.
Collaborating with local communities such as Route Kuching Crew in Johor Bahru, Penang City Running Runners (PCRR) in Penang, and Bagi Run Club in Ipoh, Garmin organised weekly training sessions leading up to the race.
This nationwide growth underscores Garmin’s continued commitment to building an inclusive and connected running culture that empowers Malaysians to stay active and inspired year-round.
Ms. Sheena Sim, Marketing Team Lead at Garmin Malaysia, expressed her pride in the growing community:
“The spirit of Garmin Run has always been about unity through movement. Seeing runners from all across Malaysia — and even from abroad — come together today truly brings that to life.”
As Garmin Run Asia Series 2025 concludes, the event stands as more than a running competition; it’s a movement that celebrates self-improvement, health, and community.
Garmin Malaysia’s dedication to advancing fitness through innovation continues to resonate deeply with Malaysians — motivating them to transform their “zero” into “hero” one stride at a time.
