Selangor Red Giants Make MPL History with Third Straight Championship

In a monumental esports moment, Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) completed a historic three-peat after dominating the MPL Malaysia Season 15 Grand Finals.

The team swept rivals Homebois (HB) 4-0 in a jaw-dropping performance that lasted just over 62 minutes, thrilling more than 1,800 fans at a packed Stadium Juara.

Not only did SRG lift the newly unveiled Immortal Cup, they also solidified their reputation as the most dominant MLBB team in Malaysian history.

The team’s gold laner, John “Innocent” Vincent Banal, earned Finals MVP honors after scoring two Savages—the ultimate in-game feat—bringing his season total to five, an all-time league record.

With this victory, SRG and Homebois will now represent Malaysia at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) during the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The event promises an eye-popping USD 3,000,000 (~MYR 12.7 million) prize pool, making it one of the most lucrative tournaments in MLBB history.

Despite their current form, both teams are approaching the MSC as underdogs. Malaysia’s prior performance at the M6 World Championship was underwhelming, but SRG has proven they can defy the odds—having won both the inaugural EWC and the World Esports Championship in 2024.

Their trademark spirit of “Pantang Mengalah”—“Never Back Down”—remains their guiding force.

Simon Lim, Chairman of Selangor Red Giants Esports, shared:

“The boys are relentless. Even when scrims don’t go well, they ask for more. This victory is the result of hard work. But our journey isn’t over—we want to defend our title at MSC.”

Their qualification underscores the growing opportunities for female players in Malaysia and places them under the global spotlight.

YB Adam Adli: Rally Behind Team Malaysia

At the official team send-off, YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, urged all Malaysians to unite behind the nation’s representatives.

“We must rally behind our teams, regardless of rivalries. Last year, SRG brought us glory. This year, let us again show the world what ‘Pantang Mengalah’ means.”

YB Adam also emphasized that esports is not just about gaming—it is a growing industry with real social and economic impact. He called on corporations to increase their involvement in developing a sustainable esports ecosystem.
