Malaysia’s beloved children’s brand, Didi & Friends, has officially made history by entering the Malaysia Book of Records for the Largest Children Participation in a Storytelling Event, with an outstanding 2,172 children taking part in a single storytelling session.
The record-breaking event was organised in collaboration with Al-Kauthar Eduqids during the Al-Kauthar Eduqids Sports Carnival with Friends 2025, celebrating fun, education, and community spirit.
Children were treated to a timeless story – The Tortoise and The Hare – first told by a teacher, and then reimagined through a lively performance by the energetic Abang Pa’an and the Didi & Friends characters.
Although the official record count stood at 2,172 children, the storytelling continued throughout the day, eventually engaging over 6,000 young participants.
The event drew a massive turnout of more than 20,000 visitors to Hall C, MAEPS Serdang, including families and educators from across the country.
Launch of the DDF Story Time Campaign
This landmark occasion also marked the launch of DDF Story Time, a campaign dedicated to promoting reading and storytelling among children. The initiative encourages young minds to explore stories, language, and imagination through fun, accessible storytelling sessions.
As part of this campaign, Didi & Friends also made a special appearance at the National Unity Week 2025 Celebration held at the State Stadium Grounds in Penang, where fans had the opportunity to meet their favourite characters in person.
Edison Cheam, Senior AVP of GenNext Studios at Astro, shared his thoughts:
