Creativity, teamwork, and passion for LEGO building reached new heights at the LEGOLAND® School Challenge 2025, Asia’s largest interschool LEGO competition.
Hosted at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort in partnership with Malaysia’s Ministry of Education, the Challenge welcomed nearly 2,000 students across seven countries.
This year, Malaysia celebrated a historic moment as two of its schools swept the Primary and Secondary Champion titles, cementing the nation’s reputation for nurturing young innovators.
A Double Win for Malaysia
In the Primary Category (ages 10–12), the team LEGEND INSPIRE from Sekolah Kebangsaan Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, emerged victorious. Their Switzerland-inspired creation, complete with a cascading waterfall, showcased not only technical detail but also perseverance.
The four-member team – Nurzaara En Asyrani Binti Balbir Shah (10), Nur Zalikha Qhaira Binti Noor Mohamad Ali (10), Muhammad Zahin Qushayyi Bin Noor Mohamad Ali (12), and Muhammad Shah El Arasy Bin Balbir Shah (12) – dedicated over a month to the project, often staying after school to perfect every brick.
They admitted the Speed Build finale was tough but credited teamwork and clear role division for their success. Their reward? An all-expenses-paid trip to Korea, marking their first-ever overseas adventure.
Meanwhile, in the Secondary Category (ages 13–17), team Lucira from Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi Gopeng, Perak, claimed the top prize. Comprising Syahirah Binti Abdul Rahman, Anis Al-Bakri Binti Mustafa Al-Bakri, Aaqilah Damia Binti Saifuddin, and Nur Damia’ Batrisyia Binti Shahril Rizam, all aged 16, the team spent two months working on their masterpiece.
Having competed last year without placing, they entered 2025 determined to improve. “Balancing boarding school commitments with the project was challenging, but we learned valuable skills in communication and problem-solving,” they shared.
For Lucira, victory was especially sweet, proving resilience and persistence pay off. Like their primary counterparts, they too will embark on a memorable trip to Korea.
Regional Talent on Display
The Junior Category (ages 7–9) crowned Singapore’s Treetop Builders from Queenstown Primary School as champions. Their imaginative build outshone strong contenders from the Philippines and Malaysia.
Across all three divisions, students demonstrated extraordinary imagination under the theme “Build Your Dream Destination.”
From futuristic space theme parks to eco-friendly island resorts, the creations reflected how LEGO inspires limitless creativity. Out of nearly 500 submissions, 15 teams advanced to the finals.
This year introduced several exciting milestones:
- The first-ever Live Speed Build Finale, where students raced against the clock before an audience, contributing 20% to their overall score.
- Expansion of age categories with the debut of the Junior division.
- Debut participation from Singapore and China.
- The Philippines’ long-awaited return since 2023.
A Platform for STEAM Learning

For CS Lim, Vice President of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, the Challenge exemplifies what LEGO stands for.
“The LEGOLAND School Challenge has grown into a truly regional platform. With finalists from four countries, this year’s edition was the most diverse yet. It is not just about scale but also cultural and creative exchange,”
Anchored in LEGO’s learning through play philosophy, the Challenge promotes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.
Students not only design and build but also learn teamwork, critical thinking, and presentation skills. The competition encourages young builders to push boundaries while gaining confidence in their creativity.
Celebrating Achievements
Winners and finalists shared in over RM200,000 worth of prizes, ranging from LEGO trophies and exclusive sets to annual passes and international trips.
For many, these rewards symbolized more than recognition—they represented opportunities to explore the world and continue their learning journeys.
All finalists’ creations will be displayed at MINILAND, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort until December 2025, giving visitors a chance to admire the imagination of Asia’s next generation.
