Next-Gen Home Connectivity: TP-Link and Freshtel Roll Out WiFi 7 Tri-Band Partnership

TP-Link and Freshtel Roll Out WiFi 7 Tri-Band Partnership

TP-Link Malaysia has officially partnered with Freshtel Internet to introduce next-generation home connectivity through a WiFi 7 tri-band solution, marking a major step forward in Malaysia’s broadband and home networking ecosystem.

The collaboration was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Alvin Ou, Head of Enterprise Networking & ISP Business of TP-Link Malaysia, and Steve Choo, Chief Executive Officer of Freshtel Internet.

This strategic partnership comes at a time when Malaysian households are becoming increasingly dependent on stable, high-performance WiFi. With remote work, online learning, cloud gaming, smart home devices and high-definition streaming now part of daily life, users are demanding more than just fast internet speeds — they need reliable and consistent WiFi coverage throughout their homes.

Under the agreement, Freshtel Internet will integrate TP-Link’s HB610 WiFi 7 Tri-Band Whole Home Mesh system into its service offerings. This makes Freshtel one of the first internet service providers (ISPs) in Malaysia to adopt a WiFi 7 tri-band solution as part of its home connectivity packages.

Why WiFi 7 Tri-Band Matters

Unlike conventional WiFi 6 or standard WiFi 7 routers, TP-Link’s HB610 uses a tri-band architecture that includes an additional 6GHz band alongside the traditional 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This extra spectrum significantly reduces network congestion, allowing multiple devices to operate smoothly without interference.

In modern households, it is common for dozens of devices to be connected simultaneously — smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, security cameras, smart speakers and more.

These devices all compete for bandwidth, which can lead to lag, buffering and inconsistent performance. By adding the 6GHz band, the HB610 allows high-priority applications such as gaming, video conferencing and 4K or 8K streaming to run on a cleaner, less crowded channel.

The result is a more stable, responsive and reliable WiFi experience throughout the home, even in high-usage, multi-device environments.

Strengthening In-Home Connectivity

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Alvin Ou of TP-Link Malaysia highlighted how in-home WiFi has become just as important as raw internet speed.

“WiFi performance within the home has become just as important as access speed.

Through this collaboration with Freshtel Internet, we are supporting service providers with tri-band WiFi 7 solutions designed to deliver a more reliable and consistent home connectivity experience.”

Steve Choo, CEO of Freshtel Internet, echoed this sentiment, emphasising the company’s commitment to improving the end-user experience.

“Providing a dependable in-home WiFi experience is a key priority for us. By working with TP-Link, we are strengthening our service offerings with WiFi 7 tri-band solutions while preparing for future connectivity demands as household usage continues to evolve,”.

By bundling TP-Link’s advanced mesh system with Freshtel’s broadband services, customers can enjoy seamless WiFi coverage across every corner of their homes, eliminating dead zones and ensuring stable connections from room to room.

Beyond the Home: Smarter Network Management

The partnership also opens doors beyond residential use. TP-Link’s Omada platform provides a centrally managed networking framework that supports scalable deployments, making it ideal for multi-unit residences, serviced apartments, hotels and other hospitality environments.

As Freshtel Internet explores new business opportunities in these sectors, Omada’s cloud-based management capabilities will allow administrators to monitor, manage and optimise network performance across multiple locations efficiently. This creates a strong foundation for Freshtel to expand into more complex networking environments while maintaining high service quality.

A Long-Term Vision for Future Connectivity

TP-Link and Freshtel have positioned this collaboration as a long-term partnership designed to evolve alongside technology trends and user needs. As more devices become connected and digital lifestyles continue to expand, the demand for fast, reliable and intelligent WiFi solutions will only grow.

With WiFi 7 still in its early stages of adoption, this partnership puts Freshtel and TP-Link at the forefront of next-generation home connectivity in Malaysia. By combining TP-Link’s networking expertise with Freshtel’s service delivery, the two companies aim to create a future-ready ecosystem that supports both today’s digital demands and tomorrow’s innovations.

For Malaysian consumers, this means faster speeds, lower latency, better coverage and a smoother online experience — whether they are working from home, gaming, streaming or managing smart home device
