A vibrant celebration of sports, culture, and lifestyle took centre stage in Kuala Lumpur with the “Malaysia on the Move: Mana-mana pun ON!” carnival.
Held over six exciting days from March 31 to April 5, the event transformed Sunway Velocity Mall into a lively hub of activity, bringing Malaysians together through shared passions and experiences.
Organised by theCOVER ASIA in collaboration with Sunway Velocity Mall, and co-organised by Sunway Multicare Pharmacy, the carnival also saw support from official radio partners MY FM and MELODY. The event was designed to align with the spirit of Visit Malaysia 2026, promoting local culture, tourism, and homegrown brands.
A Celebration Led by National Sports Icons
One of the biggest highlights of the carnival was the presence of national badminton stars Aaron Chia and Chen Tang Jie, who led the promotional efforts. Their involvement brought excitement and credibility to the event, inspiring visitors to embrace sports and active living.
The carnival also featured appearances by other prominent Malaysian athletes, including Goh Soon Huat, Shevon Lai, Welson Sim, Hoo Pang Ron, Kong Zhou Swin, Sanjay Jeeva, and Fang Ze Zeng.
Their participation not only attracted fans but also reinforced the importance of sports in building a healthy and active community.
“Mana-mana pun ON!” – A Dynamic Theme
The carnival’s theme, “Mana-mana pun ON!”, reflects the dynamic and energetic spirit of Malaysians. It encourages people to explore, stay active, and support local products while enjoying a diverse mix of sports, culture, and lifestyle experiences.
According to Stephen Wong, founder of theCOVER ASIA, the collaboration marked their first partnership with the mall and aimed to bring the spirit of sports closer to the public. By leveraging the influence of national athletes, the event successfully highlighted high-quality “Made in Malaysia” brands.
Interactive Zones and Local Experiences
Visitors were treated to a wide range of interactive activities at the Malaysia Made Experience Zone. This specially curated area showcased the richness of local culture through food, workshops, and lifestyle exhibits.
From DIY workshops to food tasting sessions, the zone provided hands-on experiences that allowed visitors to engage directly with Malaysian brands. Health, beauty, and lifestyle products were also featured, offering something for everyone.
Interactive games such as product matching challenges, scent-guessing activities, and social media contests added an element of fun and excitement. To make the experience even more rewarding, more than 500 product samples were distributed daily throughout the carnival.
Exclusive Merchandise and Lucky Draws
Another major attraction was the availability of exclusive athlete merchandise. Fans had the opportunity to purchase unique items such as NFC Touch ‘n Go accessories, limited-edition collectibles, and lifestyle products.
One of the most anticipated highlights was the lucky draw, where visitors who spent RM200 or more stood a chance to win one of 100 badminton rackets signed by professional players. This added a layer of excitement and encouraged participation among attendees.
Launch of Chen Tang Jie’s Gold Collectible Card
A standout moment during the carnival was the launch of an exclusive 999 pure gold collectible card by Chen Tang Jie. This special initiative was introduced as a tribute to the unwavering support of his fans throughout his career.
More than just a piece of memorabilia, the gold card symbolises dedication, perseverance, and the journey of an athlete striving for excellence on the international stage. Each card carries deep sentimental value, making it a meaningful keepsake for collectors and supporters alike.
Chen Tang Jie described the collection as an effort to offer something unique and more meaningful compared to conventional fan merchandise. It also marks the beginning of building his personal brand identity, paving the way for future initiatives.
Strengthening Community Connections
The carnival was more than just an event—it served as a platform to strengthen connections between athletes, brands, and the public. According to Tan Yin Loo, founder of Click Entertainment, the initiative reflects a commitment to creating more engaging experiences while fostering meaningful relationships between fans and national athletes.
The involvement of young talents and emerging brands also highlighted the importance of nurturing future leaders and innovators in Malaysia.
The “Malaysia on the Move” carnival successfully brought together sports, culture, and lifestyle under one roof at Sunway Velocity Mall.
With its engaging activities, star-studded appearances, and strong focus on local brands, the event captured the essence of Malaysian diversity and energy. It not only celebrated the nation’s achievements in sports but also encouraged the public to embrace a more active and connected lifestyle.
