Malaysia’s varsity esports scene is reaching new heights as CRIT Malaysia officially launches ACS EDU Tour Season 5, marking another major milestone for one of the country’s largest student-driven esports initiatives.
The nationwide tour officially began at University Poly-Tech MARA (UPTM), Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Kuala Lumpur, bringing fresh opportunities for student gamers, aspiring casters, content creators, and esports enthusiasts across Malaysia.
Now entering its fourth consecutive year of operations, ACS EDU Tour has evolved far beyond a traditional university gaming tournament.
This year’s edition focuses on the massively popular Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) while introducing new initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive and professional esports ecosystem for Malaysian students.
A Record-Breaking Legacy in Malaysian Esports
ACS EDU Tour has already established itself as one of the biggest grassroots esports movements in Malaysia. Over the years, the tournament has successfully attracted thousands of student participants nationwide, earning multiple recognitions from the Malaysia Book of Records.
Among its major achievements include:
- Largest Varsity Esports Tournament during Season 3 with 1,744 teams.
- Most Players in a Varsity Honor of Kings Tournament during Season 4 with 1,221 players.
- Most Identical Mobile Devices Used in an Esports Tournament with 348 devices.
These accomplishments highlight the growing influence of varsity esports in Malaysia while proving the strong demand for student-focused gaming competitions and development programs.
With Season 5 now underway, CRIT Malaysia aims to further strengthen its position as a key platform for nurturing future esports professionals.
More Than Just a Tournament
One of the biggest factors that sets ACS EDU Tour apart is its student-led approach. Following the philosophy of “Esports for Students, By Students,” the entire program is largely managed by student committees under the guidance of CRIT Malaysia professionals.
This structure allows students to gain real-world experience not only in competitive gaming, but also in event management, production, marketing, sponsorship coordination, and digital content creation.
Season 5 features a massive total prize pool of MYR200,000 and will cover 111 locations across all 14 Malaysian states through four major phases:
- Pre-Hype Digital Campaigns and KOL Activations.
- University Qualifiers involving 97 on-ground varsity activations.
- State Finals across 14 states.
- Grand Finals scheduled from December 4 to December 6, 2026.
According to CRIT Malaysia representative Chris Seow, the tournament has now become a professional training ground for students looking to enter the esports and gaming industry.
“As we enter our fourth year, ACS EDU Tour has evolved beyond a competition into a professional training ground,”.
Women Series Opens More Doors for Female Players
One of the biggest highlights of Season 5 is the introduction of the Women Series, a dedicated MLBB league designed specifically for female student-athletes.
The initiative aims to provide women gamers with a safer and more competitive environment where they can showcase their skills while building confidence within the esports industry.
Women’s participation in esports has continued to grow significantly over the past few years, and ACS EDU Tour’s latest initiative reflects the industry’s increasing commitment toward diversity and inclusivity.
By creating exclusive qualifiers and dedicated competition pathways, CRIT Malaysia hopes to encourage more female students to actively participate in competitive gaming and potentially pursue careers in esports.
The move is also expected to inspire future collaborations and opportunities involving women in gaming, streaming, event hosting, and esports management.
Searching for the Next “Voices of Esports”
Beyond competitive gaming, ACS EDU Tour Season 5 is also introducing the Caster Search initiative to discover new broadcasting talents from Malaysian universities.
The program will scout aspiring student casters across all 111 varsity locations throughout the nationwide tour. Selected participants will receive mentorship opportunities and hands-on experience in shoutcasting during the national stages of the tournament.
This initiative reflects the growing importance of esports broadcasting and live entertainment within the gaming ecosystem. As esports events continue to attract millions of viewers worldwide, the demand for skilled casters and hosts has also increased rapidly.
By identifying young talent at university level, CRIT Malaysia aims to help students build professional careers in esports media and content production.
CRITFluence Supports Student Creators
Another important pillar behind the success of ACS EDU Tour is CRITFluence, CRIT Malaysia’s talent and influencer network.
With more than 3,000 Key Opinion Consumers (KOCs) under its ecosystem, CRITFluence serves as a bridge between student creators and major brands. The platform allows students to monetize their content while contributing to the tournament’s digital visibility and marketing campaigns.
This initiative creates valuable exposure for aspiring influencers and content creators while also helping students gain practical commercial and branding experience.
Partners Fueling the Varsity Esports Dream
ACS EDU Tour Season 5 is supported by several major brands that continue to empower Malaysia’s student esports community.
This year’s official partners include:
- Tune Talk as the Official Telco Partner.
- Vico as the Official Chocolate Malt Drink.
- MAGGI® Hot Cup™ as the Official Instant Noodle Partner.
Students attending the tour activations can also enjoy free goodies including MAGGI Hot Cup products, Vico sachets, and opportunities to win MLBB diamonds worth over RM100 sponsored by Tune Talk.
At the same time, CRIT Malaysia’s Student Entrepreneurship Program (SEP) allows students to work directly with participating brands through commission-based activities and campaigns.
This hands-on exposure gives students practical business knowledge, marketing experience, and entrepreneurial skills while encouraging independent growth within the rapidly expanding digital economy.
With its combination of esports competition, professional development, inclusivity, and student empowerment, ACS EDU Tour Season 5 is shaping up to become the biggest and most impactful season yet for Malaysia’s varsity gaming scene.
