Garmin is taking its annual running event to a whole new level in 2026 with the official evolution of the Garmin Run Asia Series into the newly branded Garmin Run Marathon Series.
After four successful years across Asia, the running series is now expanding globally, covering 13 capital cities worldwide including three new locations in the United States.
The major expansion marks an important milestone for Garmin as the company continues to strengthen its international running community while inspiring runners to embrace the spirit of “From Zero to Hero.”
For Malaysia, the highly anticipated race will officially take place on 1 November 2026 in front of Mahkamah Syariah, Putrajaya.
Garmin Expands Beyond Asia
Since its introduction in 2022, the Garmin Run series has grown into one of the region’s most recognised community-driven running events.
According to Jimmy Chuang, the series was created to encourage runners of all backgrounds to challenge themselves and achieve new personal bests.
Now entering its fifth edition, Garmin aims to expand the event’s reach beyond Asia and engage more than 120,000 participants globally through both physical races and virtual running experiences.
The transformation into the Garmin Run Marathon Series reflects Garmin’s broader commitment to growing the global running culture while continuing to support runners at every stage of their fitness journey.

Garmin Malaysia has officially opened registration for the Malaysian edition of the Garmin Run Marathon Series 2026.
The race will feature two main categories:
- 10KM
- 21KM Half Marathon
The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across Malaysia, ranging from first-time runners to experienced athletes seeking new personal records.
Garmin Malaysia also announced that exclusive registration for Public Bank Visa cardmembers will begin on 25 May 2026 at 2:00 PM, offering participants an additional 5% discount from the flash sale price.
Public registration will then open on 26 May 2026 at 2:00 PM – www.garmin.com.my

Race Pack Collection will take place on 30 and 31 October 2026, with further updates to be announced through Garmin Malaysia’s official social media platforms.
Garmin Asia Virtual Run Returns
In addition to the physical marathon series, Garmin is also bringing back the Garmin Asia Virtual Run 2026.
The virtual event will run from 1 June until 2 August 2026, allowing participants from around the world to join remotely and stay connected with the Garmin running community regardless of location.
The virtual run further supports Garmin’s mission to create a more inclusive and accessible running ecosystem for everyone.
Garmin Run Club Strengthens Training Support
To better prepare participants ahead of race day, Garmin Malaysia is once again activating its training ecosystem through the Garmin Run Club (GRC).
Weekly training sessions will be conducted every Tuesday at:
- Sky Field
- TAR UMT Arena
From July until October, the training schedule will increase to twice weekly as runners intensify their preparation for the marathon.
Participants can also expect stronger community engagement this year with experienced coaches and pacers including:

Garmin Malaysia also revealed that the 2026 edition will feature increased female pacer representation, reflecting the brand’s ongoing commitment towards inclusivity and empowering women in sports.
