Fly in Greater Comfort: Emirates Introduces Electric Premium Economy Seats on Airbus A350

Emirates Introduces Electric Premium Economy Seats on Airbus A350

Emirates Unveils World’s First Electric Premium Economy Seat – A New Era of Comfort and Privacy in Premium Economy

Emirates is taking its award-winning Premium Economy experience to another level with the introduction of what it describes as the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat with a full-height adjustable privacy screen.

The new seat will debut aboard Emirates’ newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, bringing passengers a combination of greater personal space, enhanced comfort, smart technology and premium hospitality.

With airlines increasingly looking for ways to improve the Premium Economy experience, Emirates’ latest innovation could further blur the line between Premium Economy and Business Class.

More Personal Space with a Full-Height Privacy Screen

One of the most distinctive features of the new Emirates Premium Economy seat is its full-height electric privacy divider.

Unlike conventional privacy screens that only cover part of the seating area, Emirates’ new divider extends to the full height of the seat. Passengers can raise or lower the screen using the integrated seat controls and lock it into their preferred position.

This gives travellers greater control over their personal space, whether they want to relax, enjoy a meal, watch a movie or get some work done during the flight.

The new Premium Economy cabin on the Airbus A350 features a spacious 2-3-2 configuration with just 28 seats, creating a more intimate environment compared with larger Economy cabins.

Each seat is also 20 inches wide, with a seat pitch of up to 39 inches. The seats can recline into a cradle position without intruding into the space of the passenger behind, making it easier to relax or sleep on longer journeys.

Electric Seat Controls for Greater Comfort

Emirates is also introducing its first fully electrically powered Premium Economy seat, allowing passengers to adjust their seating position at the touch of a button.

Through the integrated Passenger Control Unit, travellers can select their preferred seating position, including dedicated lounge and meal modes.

This level of adjustability is designed to make different stages of a flight more comfortable, from enjoying dinner and watching entertainment to settling down for some rest.

The seat also features Emirates’ acclaimed U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats. Crafted in leather, the redesigned headrest offers improved head and neck support, while adjustable wings allow passengers to find a more personalised position.

A manually deployable leather footrest provides additional support and can help reduce leg fatigue during longer flights.

Wireless Charging and Smart Device Features

Technology also plays an important role in the upgraded Premium Economy experience.

For the first time, Emirates is introducing wireless charging in its Premium Economy cabin, allowing passengers to conveniently charge compatible smartphones and other devices throughout the journey.

Every seat is also equipped with USB-C charging, making it easier to keep essential devices powered during long-haul flights.

Another thoughtful addition is the tray table with an integrated phone holder. This allows passengers to position their smartphones securely and use them as a convenient second screen while dining or enjoying entertainment.

13.3-Inch 4K HDR Entertainment

Entertainment remains another major highlight of the Emirates A350 Premium Economy experience.

Passengers will have access to Emirates’ award-winning ice inflight entertainment system through a large 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen.

The high-resolution display is designed to provide sharp images and responsive navigation, offering passengers an engaging way to enjoy movies, television programmes, music and other entertainment during the flight.

The new Airbus A350 aircraft will also offer enhanced exterior camera views. In addition to the existing forward and downward views, passengers can enjoy new left and right exterior perspectives, providing a more immersive look at the aircraft’s surroundings during the journey.

Gourmet Dining Inspired by Business Class

The Premium Economy experience goes beyond the seat itself.

Emirates continues to position its Premium Economy cabin as a more refined alternative to conventional Economy, with gourmet, regionally inspired menus prepared by the airline’s chefs.

Meals are served on Royal Doulton fine china, accompanied by linen napkins and stainless-steel Robert Welch cutlery.

Passengers can also enjoy a carefully selected range of premium beverages, including Chandon Vintage Brut 2021, an Australian sparkling wine available exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide.

The airline is also expanding its wine selection, with options including Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 and La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014 on selected routes.

From October, passengers travelling in Premium Economy on UK routes will also be able to enjoy Wiston Estate Brut NV, Emirates’ first English sparkling wine.

Sustainable Amenity Kits with Aveda Skincare

On long-haul flights, Emirates Premium Economy passengers will receive reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife.

The collectible bags feature designs inspired by endangered wildlife across four natural habitats and use bio-based materials, including cactus leather alternatives.

For the first time in Premium Economy, the kits will also feature Aveda plant-powered skincare products, alongside travel essentials such as socks, eyeshades, earplugs and dental kits.

The combination of practical amenities and more sustainable materials adds another premium touch to the overall experience.

Emirates Continues to Raise the Premium Economy Bar

Since Premium Economy was introduced by Emirates in 2022, the airline has continued to expand the product across its fleet and markets served by the Airbus A350.

The cabin has already received international recognition, including Best Premium Economy Class at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in 2024 and 2025, as well as Airline with the Best Premium Economy Class at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.

The introduction of its new electric Premium Economy seat represents another significant step in Emirates’ approach to cabin innovation.

With a full-height privacy screen, electric seat controls, spacious seating, wireless charging, 4K HDR entertainment, gourmet dining and thoughtful amenities, Emirates is clearly aiming to make Premium Economy feel much more premium.

For travellers who want more comfort and privacy without moving all the way up to Business Class, the new Emirates A350 Premium Economy cabin could offer a very compelling middle ground.

Ultimately, this latest innovation reflects Emirates’ continuing promise to help passengers “Fly Better” – with greater comfort, privacy and control from take-off to landing.
