International money transfers are becoming an increasingly common part of everyday financial life for Malaysians. Whether it is paying overseas university fees, supporting family members, purchasing goods, managing business commitments or setting aside savings abroad, customers are looking for ways to move money that are fast, transparent and convenient.
Responding to these changing expectations, MBSB Bank has expanded its Global Easy Transfer (GET) service from 12 to 20 currencies, giving customers more flexibility when sending money internationally.
Powered by Wise Platform, GET brings faster international transfers, upfront cost visibility and real-time tracking together within MBSB Bank’s MJourney banking app and web platform.
A Simpler Way to Send Money Overseas
Traditional international money transfers could involve branch visits, paperwork and lengthy waiting times. Today, digital banking has changed customer expectations, with speed and convenience becoming increasingly important.
GET is designed around three key priorities: speed, cost transparency and visibility.
Through GET, eligible MBSB Bank customers can transfer up to RM150,000 per day, while benefiting from competitive foreign exchange rates and seeing applicable costs upfront. Customers can also track their transfers in real time, allowing them to stay informed throughout the process.
By integrating the service directly into MJourney, MBSB Bank customers can manage their international transfers through a single digital banking platform rather than relying on separate services.
GET Expands to 20 Currencies
One of the latest developments is the expansion of GET from 12 to 20 supported currencies.
The expanded coverage includes key destinations such as Vietnam, Canada and the United Arab Emirates, giving Malaysians more options when managing financial commitments overseas.
The wider currency coverage can be useful for a variety of needs, including education expenses, family support, business payments and personal savings.
Existing currencies such as the Australian Dollar and British Pound also continue to see strong demand, particularly for education-related transactions. For Malaysian students and families, international transfers can form an important part of managing tuition fees and living expenses abroad.
Strong Growth Shows Growing Customer Adoption
Since its introduction, GET has recorded significant growth among MBSB Bank customers.
According to MBSB Bank, the number of unique users, based on average daily activity, has more than doubled. Transaction volumes also increased by 250% in 2026 compared with 2025.
The service recorded a repeat transaction rate of more than 90% over the past year, suggesting that customers are returning to GET for their regular international payment needs.
The reasons for these transfers also highlight how international payments have become part of everyday financial activities. Family support and monthly living expenses make up the largest share of GET transactions, followed by payments for goods, salary remittances and transfers for personal savings.
Speed, Transparency and Real-Time Tracking
For customers transferring larger amounts of money internationally, knowing the cost and status of a transaction can be just as important as speed.
GET provides upfront visibility of costs and competitive foreign exchange rates, while real-time tracking allows customers to follow the progress of their transfers.
Rafe Haneef, Group Chief Executive Officer of MBSB Berhad, said the growth of GET reflects changing expectations as customers become increasingly comfortable managing their finances digitally.
He highlighted how international transfers have evolved from processes involving branch visits and paperwork into more immediate digital experiences, with customers now expecting greater speed, visibility and transparency.
Powered by Wise Platform
GET is MBSB Bank’s international transfer solution developed in partnership with Wise Platform.
Samarth Bansal, APAC General Manager at Wise Platform, said the strong growth of GET demonstrates demand among Malaysians for fast, convenient and transparent international payments.
The partnership also allows MBSB Bank to expand the number of routes available to customers, with the latest expansion bringing GET’s supported currencies to 20.
Available Through MJourney
Usman Ghouse, Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer of MBSB Bank, said GET is designed around what customers value when moving money internationally, particularly faster transfers, transparency and visibility.
GET is currently available to existing MBSB Bank customers through the MJourney platform, accessible via the bank’s digital banking app and web platform.
For those who are not yet MBSB Bank customers, accounts can be opened online through MBSB Bank’s official website before using the service.
With international financial commitments becoming increasingly common, MBSB Bank’s expansion of GET to 20 currencies provides customers with more options to manage cross-border payments while keeping the process within a familiar digital banking environment.
