Samsung Electronics Malaysia is encouraging Malaysians to embrace healthier lifestyles with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, bringing AI-powered health insights and fitness tracking capabilities to everyday life.
From counting daily steps and monitoring sleep to understanding workout intensity and hydration needs, the latest Galaxy Watch lineup is designed to help users become more aware of their health and make better-informed lifestyle choices.
Rather than relying on major lifestyle changes, Samsung believes that building healthier habits can begin with simple actions, such as taking an evening walk, getting enough rest or drinking more water throughout the day.
Encouraging Malaysians to Move More Every Day
Physical activity remains an important health concern in Malaysia. According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023, one in three Malaysian adults is physically inactive, while one in two leads a sedentary lifestyle.
Nutrition is another area that deserves attention. Findings from the NHMS Nutrition study in 2024 revealed that only 17.1% of adults met the recommended daily intake of two servings of fruit, while just 12.2% consumed the recommended three servings of vegetables.
These findings highlight the importance of making healthier choices part of everyday routines.
According to Charles Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics, maintaining good health starts with the small decisions people make daily and understanding how their bodies respond to their routines.
With the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Samsung aims to make health awareness more accessible through continuous tracking and AI-powered insights that translate complex health data into practical guidance.
Move Together with Malaysia Step Challenge Attracts Over 10,000 Participants
To encourage Malaysians to become more active, Samsung has introduced community initiatives alongside its latest Galaxy Watch lineup.
One of the highlights was the nationwide Move Together with Malaysia step challenge, hosted through the Samsung Health app. The challenge ran from 26 August to 16 September 2026, inviting participants to complete 150,000 steps over three weeks.
More than 10,000 Malaysians participated in the latest challenge, which concluded in September. Eligible participants who completed the target could redeem a RM200 voucher, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
The idea behind the challenge was simple: encourage people to move more without making fitness feel like a complicated commitment.
Whether it was taking a morning walk, going for an evening run or walking more during the working day, every step contributed towards the target.
Samsung also partnered with sportswear brand HOKA to organise a community run in Kuala Lumpur on 5 September 2026, bringing runners and fitness enthusiasts together to celebrate movement and community.
The collaboration included a pre-order exclusive and a Samsung Members e-voucher offering 20% off selected HOKA products. Eligible Samsung Members can redeem the voucher through the Samsung Members app for purchases on HOKA’s website, with the offer valid until 31 December 2026, subject to terms and conditions.
Smarter Health Tracking with AI-Powered Insights
Beyond counting steps, the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 bring together several aspects of personal wellbeing through Samsung Health.
The experience covers key areas including activity, mindfulness, nutrition, sleep and vital signs. AI-powered insights help users better understand their personal health and fitness trends instead of simply presenting them with a collection of numbers.
One of the notable features is Nutrition Alert, which provides hydration guidance during supported activities. During extended exercise, the watch can estimate sweat loss relative to body weight and offer guidance on when and how much fluid to consume.
This can be particularly useful for Malaysian runners and outdoor fitness enthusiasts, as hot and humid weather makes hydration an important consideration during exercise.
However, hydration needs vary between individuals and conditions, so users should treat the watch’s guidance as an additional reference rather than a substitute for their own needs or professional advice.
Another feature is Heart Health Score, which combines factors such as activity, sleep, body composition and stress trends into a single metric intended to support general wellness and fitness awareness.
Meanwhile, Daily Cardio Load helps users understand their training intensity and recovery needs. The feature can provide useful context for those who want to balance challenging workouts with adequate rest.
Fitness Index offers a broader view of physical fitness and helps users establish personalised goals based on activity and body composition.
Together, these tools give users more information to help them manage their daily activity and work towards realistic fitness targets.
Better Sleep and Recovery Matter Too
A healthier lifestyle is not just about exercising more. Rest and recovery are equally important, especially for people who train regularly.
For Galaxy Watch9 users, overnight health signals help establish a personal baseline through Vitals, allowing users to observe meaningful changes over time.
The Galaxy Watch lineup also includes sleep-related health features, including sleep apnoea risk detection. Availability and functionality may vary depending on the device, region and applicable requirements.
These insights can help users become more aware of their sleep patterns and recovery needs. However, smartwatch measurements are intended to support general wellness and should not be used as a replacement for professional medical assessment or diagnosis.
By bringing activity, sleep, stress and other health information together, Samsung aims to help users build a more complete picture of their daily wellbeing.
Keep Moving Towards a Healthier You
With the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Samsung is putting greater emphasis on using technology to support healthier everyday habits.
The combination of AI-powered health insights, fitness tracking and community initiatives encourages Malaysians to take small but meaningful steps towards a more active lifestyle.
For anyone looking to improve their fitness, the starting point does not have to be an ambitious workout plan or a major lifestyle overhaul. It could be as simple as walking a little further, drinking enough water, getting better sleep or setting a realistic weekly activity target.
By making progress easier to track and healthy habits more engaging, Samsung hopes to inspire more Malaysians to take ownership of their wellbeing, one step at a time.
After all, a healthier lifestyle is not built overnight. It is the result of small, consistent choices made every day.
