Malaysia has taken another major step toward becoming a regional hub for artificial intelligence and robotics as AGIBOT, a global leader in embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics, officially launched its operations in the country.
The landmark event, held on 13 January 2026 at i-City, Selangor, marks the beginning of AGIBOT’s wider strategic expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
The launch brought together AGIBOT’s senior leadership team, Malaysian government representatives, industry partners, customers and members of the media, reflecting the importance of this move for both the company and Malaysia’s growing AI ecosystem.
More than just a product introduction, the event highlighted AGIBOT’s long-term commitment to developing partnerships, deploying real-world robotics solutions and supporting automation across the region.
A Robotics Company Built for the AGI Era
Founded in 2023, AGIBOT was created with a bold ambition — to build robots that are ready for the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) era. Instead of focusing on narrow, single-task machines, AGIBOT develops embodied intelligent robots that can learn, adapt and operate autonomously in complex real-world environments.
This vision became reality in 2025, a breakthrough year for the company. AGIBOT successfully rolled out its 5,000th mass-produced humanoid robot in December 2025, a milestone that proves its industrial-scale manufacturing capability and readiness for large-scale commercial deployment.
At the same time, the company advanced its real-world reinforcement learning technology, allowing robots to be trained directly in physical production environments rather than in simulations.
According to Deng Taihua, Founder, Chairman and CEO of AGIBOT, these achievements put the company in a strong position as it enters 2026. He explained that the Malaysia launch reflects AGIBOT’s goal of bringing mass-produced, practical embodied robotics into everyday commercial use across Asia-Pacific.
Malaysia’s First AI & Robotics Experience Centre Opens in i-City
One of the most significant highlights of the launch was the grand opening of Malaysia’s first AI & Robotics Experience Centre, known as AI World, located in i-City, Selangor. The centre was officially opened by YB Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
The facility was developed through a strategic partnership between AGIBOT and I-Berhad, the master developer of i-City. This collaboration brings AGIBOT’s advanced robotics and embodied AI into real-world applications across property, hospitality, tourism and daily urban life.
What makes AI World unique is its focus on more than just productivity. The centre also highlights how AI and robotics can support human wellness, health optimisation and longevity, positioning technology as a tool to enhance quality of life rather than simply automate work.
According to Abel Deng, President for Asia-Pacific & Middle East at AGIBOT, AI World is only the first phase of a broader long-term partnership with I-Berhad. More developments are planned in the coming year as AGIBOT rolls out additional strategic initiatives across the region.
A Vision for Smart, Human-Centric Living
For I-Berhad, the partnership with AGIBOT aligns closely with Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional AI innovation hub. Tan Sri Lim Kim Hong, Chairman of I-Berhad, explained that the collaboration goes beyond commercial robotics.
It includes plans to develop the world’s first AI and Robotics Residential Tower, which will serve as a real-world testbed for humanoid robots in everyday residential environments.
This concept brings together AI, robotics, wellness innovation and a Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, creating a new standard for intelligent, human-centric living. By embedding robotics into daily life — from home services to health and wellness — the initiative aims to turn advanced technology into something practical, accessible and beneficial for ordinary people.
AGIBOT’s Powerful Robotics Portfolio
AGIBOT enters Malaysia with one of the most complete and versatile robotics portfolios in the industry, covering a wide range of commercial and industrial needs.
Its lineup includes:
- AGIBOT A2 Series – Full-sized humanoid robots designed for guided tours, customer interaction and showroom presentations
- AGIBOT X2 Series – Compact humanoids capable of natural movement and expressive interaction, ideal for entertainment, research and education
- AGIBOT G2 Series – Industrial-grade robots that combine intelligent interaction with precise force-controlled manipulation for manufacturing environments
- AGIBOT D1 Series – High-mobility quadruped robots built for inspection and operations in complex terrain
- AGIBOT C5 – An autonomous commercial floor-care robot for large facilities, delivering smart sweeping and scrubbing
These robots are already being deployed across eight major commercial sectors, including reception and hospitality, entertainment, manufacturing, logistics, security patrols, data collection, research and education.
A New Chapter for Robotics in Malaysia
With its official launch, AI World Experience Centre and strong partnership with I-Berhad, AGIBOT is positioning Malaysia as a key gateway for embodied AI and humanoid robotics in the Asia-Pacific region.
By combining advanced technology with real-world deployment, AGIBOT is not just building robots — it is building an ecosystem that brings intelligent automation into everyday life, industry and urban living. As 2026 unfolds, Malaysia is set to become one of the region’s most important testing grounds for the future of embodied intelligence.
