Ready, set, build! Asia’s most exciting LEGO® event for schools is back and promises to be bigger and more thrilling than ever.
LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has officially launched the fourth edition of the LEGOLAND® Malaysia School Challenge 2025.
With a brand-new theme, international grand prizes, and an adrenaline-pumping speed building finale, this year’s challenge is set to captivate the imagination of students across the region.
Since its debut in 2022, the Challenge has become a much-anticipated annual celebration of creativity, innovation, and teamwork. Following record-breaking participation in 2024, the 2025 edition raises the bar even higher by inviting young builders to create their dream travel destinations using LEGO bricks.
Build Your Dream Destination: A New Theme for 2025
The 2025 Challenge invites students to unleash their inner dreamer with the theme “Build Your Dream Destination.” From fantasy islands and futuristic space cities to magical underwater worlds, participants are encouraged to combine creativity, storytelling, and technical skills to bring their unique destinations to life.
Open to students aged 7 to 17, the competition is divided into three age categories:
- Junior Category (7-9 years old)
- Primary Category (10-12 years old)
- Secondary Category (13-17 years old)
Each team, consisting of 3-4 students and a teacher, will work together to turn their imagination into a captivating LEGO creation that reflects their dream getaway.
What’s New and Exciting in LEGOLAND® Malaysia School Challenge 2025?
This year’s competition introduces two groundbreaking additions:
1. Grand Prizes Go Global:
For the first time, Primary and Secondary Category winners will earn the experience of a lifetime—a trip to LEGOLAND Korea. Meanwhile, champions of the Junior Category will enjoy an exclusive stay at LEGOLAND Malaysia.
This exciting reward aims to broaden students’ horizons and expose them to different cultures and experiences.
2. Speed Building Showdown:
Adding to the excitement, the 2025 finale will feature an all-new Speed Building Challenge. The Top 5 finalist teams from each category will face off in a thrilling live build session, racing against the clock to construct an original LEGO masterpiece in just 45 minutes.
This new format will test not only their creativity but also their problem-solving and time management skills under pressure.
All finalists will also receive an unforgettable 3D2N stay at LEGOLAND Hotel, exclusive LEGO trophies, special LEGO sets, and Annual Passes to LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.
Inspiring Young Innovators

The Challenge has always been more than just building bricks; it’s about shaping future creators, engineers, and storytellers. Nathanael Yap, a three-time Grand Prize winner and one of the competition’s most inspiring alumni, shared his journey during the launch event.
“Being part of the LEGOLAND School Challenge was one of the highlights of my school life. It pushed me to think creatively, collaborate with friends, and develop skills that I now realize are essential for my future,” he reflected. “This competition shaped my passion for design, engineering, and creative thinking. I’m excited to see what this year’s participants will create.”
According to Cs Lim, Vice President of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, the Challenge aligns closely with LEGO’s DNA of learning through play.
“This is more than a competition—it’s an opportunity to nurture critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation among students,” he said. “Since opening up to schools across Asia, it has also become a platform for cultural exchange, fostering connections beyond borders.”
This year’s Challenge is supported by the Ministry of Education, Tourism Malaysia, Trip.com Group, and the LEGO Group, all united in their mission to spark imagination in the next generation of builders.
Stephane Thong, General Manager of Trip.com Malaysia, emphasized the significance of this partnership:
“The theme of ‘Build Your Dream Destination’ resonates with Trip.com’s mission to connect people through travel. By supporting this initiative, we hope to inspire students to dream bigger and experience new cultures, with the Grand Prize trip to Korea offering them an unforgettable adventure.”
