Esports Meets Education: Campus Legends Southeast Asia 2025 Launches

Campus Legends Southeast Asia 2025

Esports in Southeast Asia is entering an exciting new chapter with the launch of Campus Legends Southeast Asia (CLSEA) 2025, the region’s first-ever inter-tertiary esports tournament.

Officially announced this August, the event is organized by the Collegiate Cyberathlete Association (CCA), sanctioned by regional esports federations, and produced by Singapore-based creative powerhouse C2E4.

What started years ago as a small inter-school competition in Singapore has now grown into a regional platform uniting student gamers from 11 countries, creating opportunities not just for competition, but also for education, cultural exchange, and personal growth.

Two Iconic Esports Titles Take the Spotlight

Partnering with leading developers MOONTON Games and Capcom, CLSEA 2025 features Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and Street Fighter 6 (SF6) as its official tournament titles.

These two games represent the diversity of esports genres—team-based mobile MOBA gameplay and classic one-on-one fighting mechanics—ensuring electrifying action throughout the tournament.

Student teams and players from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam will battle through national qualifiers to earn their place at the Regional Grand Finals in Singapore on 1 November 2025.

For those who missed their national qualifiers, there’s still hope: a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) for Street Fighter 6 in October will give one more talented player the chance to secure a spot in the finals.

Campus Legends Southeast Asia 2025 – More Than Just Competition

CLSEA is more than an esports tournament—it’s a holistic platform for youth development. Beyond the matches, all participants will take part in a Learning Journey program, which focuses on cultural exchange, education, and career-building.

Through workshops, studio visits, and interactions with professionals from the gaming and creative industries, students will gain exposure to the broader ecosystem that powers esports. This initiative ensures that the tournament doesn’t just create champions on stage, but also nurtures future leaders, creatives, and industry professionals.

Scholarships and cash prizes add even more value to the competition, highlighting CCA’s commitment to empowering young people through gaming.

Dennis Ooi, Chairman of the Collegiate Cyberathlete Association, emphasized the tournament’s role in youth empowerment:

“Campus Legends Southeast Asia is more than just a competition. It’s a celebration of youth, passion, and the potential of games to develop character, careers, and community.”

For MOONTON Games, collegiate tournaments like CLSEA have become essential in discovering fresh talent. Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON, noted:

“We’re excited to see tertiary students compete and connect over their passion for MLBB, while also unlocking new opportunities for their future careers.”

Capcom Singapore echoed similar excitement, with Managing Director Ricky Bian Li stating:

“We are proud to feature Street Fighter 6 across all 11 participating countries. This event gives students a platform to showcase their skills and grow the fighting game community in Southeast Asia.”

Finally, Frank Yong, Managing Director of C2E4, summarized the spirit of CLSEA:

“We created Campus Legends Southeast Asia to be more than a tournament—it’s about empowering the next generation of leaders, creatives, and professionals through esports and education.”

With national qualifiers wrapping up through August and September, the stage is set for the Grand Finals in Singapore on 1 November 2025. The event promises to bring together the region’s best young talents in MLBB and SF6, offering not just thrilling matches, but also cultural exchange, friendships, and career opportunities.

CLSEA 2025 stands as a milestone for collegiate esports in Southeast Asia, combining competition, education, and community in one dynamic event. For student gamers, this is more than just a tournament—it’s the beginning of a movement that could shape the future of esports in the region.
