In a heartfelt move toward greater inclusivity, Maxim E-Hailing Malaysia has officially partnered with the Society of the Blind Malaysia (SBM) to support the mobility and welfare of the visually impaired community across the nation.

Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the collaboration cements Maxim’s role as a socially responsible company dedicated to promoting accessibility and equal opportunities.

The MoU ceremony, witnessed by representatives from both Maxim and SBM, marked a milestone moment for the local e-hailing industry.

The event also featured a symbolic cheque handover and a sharing session showcasing Maxim’s continuous efforts in driver safety, community outreach, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Free Rides to Enhance Mobility and Independence

As part of this collaboration, Maxim Malaysia is offering free e-hailing rides for SBM and its members. This initiative ensures that the blind and visually impaired can travel safely and conveniently — whether for daily commutes, medical check-ups, or attending community events.

Transportation has long been one of the biggest challenges for the visually impaired community, often limiting their access to essential services and social engagement. By providing these rides, Maxim aims to remove that barrier, promoting independent living and active participation in society.

Mobility should be accessible to everyone,” said Mohd Hazwan Musley, Director of Maxim Malaysia.

This MoU is not just a formal agreement — it is a reflection of our shared belief that accessibility is a right, not a privilege. We want to empower the blind and visually impaired to move freely, participate actively, and feel supported by the society around them.

He added that this collaboration goes beyond transportation.

“This initiative is about empowerment, dignity, and inclusion. When our services become more inclusive, our communities become stronger. Maxim is proud to stand alongside SBM to create equal opportunities for all.”

Food Bank Support for the Visually Impaired

Beyond mobility assistance, Maxim Malaysia extended its support through a food bank donation to 163 SBM members, symbolizing compassion and care for underserved communities.

The food packages were distributed to members, including elderly individuals and families in need. This act of generosity highlights Maxim’s continued commitment to social welfare and its belief that small, consistent efforts can lead to meaningful change.

In response, Mohd Mustaza Bin Mohamad Zin, President of the Society of the Blind Malaysia, expressed deep gratitude to Maxim for its impactful gesture.

“We sincerely thank Maxim Malaysia for supporting Persons with Visual Disabilities (OKU Penglihatan) through fare assistance and food aid. This meaningful effort truly reflects the Malaysian spirit of care and inclusivity,”

He also urged for broader support from both public and private sectors:

“We hope the government will consider introducing a monthly e-hailing subsidy for persons with disabilities and encourage more organisations to follow Maxim’s example in supporting the visually impaired community.”
