For some 60 children from Rumah Anak Yatim Sungai Kantan, Kajang, getting up close and personal with animals in the ‘Farm in the City’ petting zoo was one such experience.
From sharing a snack of fresh vegetables with a venerable tortoise to frolicking with colorful birds in the aviary, this was the children’s’ first ever interaction with exotic animals – the first in a few stops on a day out billed ‘Sentuhan Kasih’.
Organised by McDonald’s Malaysia and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ is part of McDonald’s and RMHC’s community engagement efforts involving volunteers from McDonald’s Malaysia and RMHC members.
“It gives us so much joy to be able to spend the day with all these children and to see the smiles on their faces. McDonald’s Malaysia strongly believes in the positive impact that RMHC has on children in need, through various programs including today’s ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ event,” – Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director/ Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia and President of RMHC Malaysia.
Accompanied by 30 McDonald’s Malaysia volunteers and RMHC members, the children were also treated to a shopping spree for baju raya at AEON Equine Park and a scrumptious lunch at a nearby McDonald’s restaurant.
To top it off, the children’s home also received a contribution of RM5,000.00 from RMHC Malaysia.
