Saudia and Vietnam Airlines Sign Codeshare Deal to Expand Middle East-Asia Routes

Saudia and Vietnam Airlines Sign Codeshare Deal

In a major move to enhance regional and global connectivity, Saudia, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has officially signed a codeshare agreement with Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

This strategic partnership promises more seamless and flexible travel experiences between the Middle East and Southeast Asia, particularly connecting cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Riyadh and Jeddah.

The new partnership leverages the strength of both airlines and their shared SkyTeam alliance membership to expand network reach, simplify booking processes, and improve passenger convenience.

Greater Connectivity and Travel Flexibility

With this codeshare agreement, travellers can now book itineraries across both airlines through either carrier’s platform.

For example, a passenger flying from Hanoi to Jeddah or Ho Chi Minh City to Riyadh will benefit from a unified ticketing system, smoother transit, and enhanced connectivity — whether the flight is operated by Saudia or Vietnam Airlines.

We are looking forward to deepening our relationship with Vietnam Airlines,” said Mr. Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia. “This agreement underscores Saudia’s commitment to offer more destinations to guests and secure a seamless travel experience.”

This cooperation forms part of Saudia’s broader expansion strategy, aimed at increasing international connections while promoting cultural and economic ties between regions.

Saudia X Vietnam Airlines : A Strategic Win for Both Airlines

From Vietnam’s perspective, this collaboration enables Vietnam Airlines to strengthen its global network and connect passengers to more destinations in the Middle East — a region growing in both tourism and business travel.

We are delighted to partner with Saudia,” said Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Director of Corporate Planning & Development at Vietnam Airlines. “Our customers now have more choices for travel to the Middle East, and this collaboration reflects our focus on delivering exceptional service with seamless international connections.

Being members of SkyTeam, both airlines can also integrate their frequent flyer programs, allowing passengers to earn and redeem miles on both networks while enjoying reciprocal benefits such as lounge access and priority boarding.

Part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision for the Future

The partnership aligns with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to make Saudi Arabia a global logistics hub by connecting to over 250 destinations by 2030.

The country’s ambitious tourism goals — including 150 million visits annually by 2030 — are well-supported by partnerships like this one, which improve accessibility and flight options for international travellers.

Saudia is at the forefront of this transformation. With over 147 modern aircraft, the airline serves nearly 100 destinations globally across four continents and connects all 28 domestic airports in Saudi Arabia.

Saudia’s rapid development has been recognized globally:

  • World’s Most Improved Airline 2024 by Skytrax (third time winner)
  • World Class Airline 2024 by APEX for the third consecutive year
  • Top airline for On-Time Performance (OTP) by Cirium

This strategic move further cements Saudia’s reputation as a leading global airline.
