My Food 2025: Strengthening Malaysia’s Food Industry and Supporting Local Suppliers

The pre-launch of My Food 2025, an event dedicated to empowering local food suppliers and enhancing Malaysia’s food security, took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Organized by Montgomery Asia, the event was officially launched by YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham bin Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS).

This marks the beginning of a nationwide movement to reinforce local supply chains and expand market opportunities for Malaysian food producers.

A Major Food Industry Event in April 2025

The main My Food Show 2025 will be held from April 24 to 26, 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The event aims to bring together food producers, café operators, restaurateurs, and industry leaders to discuss and promote sustainable food practices and locally sourced ingredients.

Alun Jones, Project Director of Montgomery Asia, emphasized the significance of the event:

“My Food 2025 is not just an exhibition—it’s a movement dedicated to supporting local food producers, connecting them with key buyers, and fostering sustainable business growth.” By facilitating direct market access, the event aims to help small businesses scale their operations, transform the industry, and strengthen Malaysia’s local supply chains.

Encouraging Sustainable Food Practices

One of the key aspects of My Food 2025 is its alignment with the Slow Food movement, which promotes the consumption of fresh, locally sourced ingredients over processed food. This shift caters to the growing consumer demand for natural, nutritious, and sustainable meal options.

The initiative has received strong backing from major government agencies, including the Federal Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

Their support highlights the importance of this event in ensuring a more sustainable and self-sufficient food industry in Malaysia.

Jones further added, “We appreciate the endorsement from MAFS, which strengthens our commitment to developing a robust local food ecosystem.”

My Food Show 2025: A Platform for Growth

The My Food Show in April 2025 will showcase a variety of Malaysian food producers, highlighting their diverse offerings to the café, restaurant, and retail sectors.

With the theme ‘The Flavours of Your Community,’ the event aims to ensure that locally made food products receive greater visibility and market access.

Jones noted, “Malaysia’s food industry is evolving, and businesses are increasingly seeking high-quality local ingredients. My Food Show will serve as a one-stop platform, bridging the gap between suppliers and buyers to ensure local products play a central role in industry growth.”

The event will also feature a series of discussions and workshops, covering topics such as:

  1. The benefits of shorter supply chains – Enhancing accessibility to fresh, high-quality food.
  2. Reducing carbon footprints – Minimizing transportation-related emissions and packaging waste.
  3. Educating businesses on sustainable sourcing – Encouraging the use of local ingredients in menus and retail products.

A Commitment to Sustainability

As a venue partner, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) has long advocated for sustainable food sourcing. The KLCC Business Events Alliance (KLCC BEA) is actively positioning the KLCC Precinct as a sustainability hub.

“We are thrilled to have KLCC as our venue partner,” said Jones. “Their commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with My Food 2025, reinforcing the importance of supporting local food businesses.”

With the growing demand for locally produced food, My Food 2025 is set to become a crucial platform for supporting small businesses and reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to food security and sustainability.

Jones further emphasized the importance of these industry shifts, stating, “As the F&B sector continues to evolve, businesses are recognizing the benefits of sourcing locally and adopting sustainable practices. My Food 2025 serves as an exciting opportunity to promote these values and offer local suppliers greater exposure.”

Building Momentum for the Future

As Malaysia moves towards a more self-sufficient and sustainable food industry, My Food 2025 is set to play a key role in shaping its future. By encouraging local sourcing, streamlining supply chains, and reducing environmental impact, the event aims to create lasting positive changes in the F&B sector.

“For exhibitors, industry professionals, and the public, My Food 2025 will be a platform for education, business growth, and collaboration,” said Jones. “This is more than just a trade show—it’s a step toward transforming Malaysia’s food industry for the better.”

The My Food Show 2025 will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from April 24-26, 2025. The event will be open to trade visitors on April 24-25, with the general public welcome on April 26.

Jones concluded, “For businesses, suppliers, and consumers alike, My Food 2025 represents a movement towards a thriving, sustainable future for Malaysia’s food economy. We invite all stakeholders to be part of this exciting journey.”
