Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Series Officially Launches in Malaysia with 10,000mAh Battery and New Wearables
Xiaomi has officially launched its latest REDMI Note 17 Series in Malaysia, bringing four new smartphones to the local market together with a fresh lineup of REDMI smartwatches and headphones.
Announced in Kuala Lumpur on September 2, 2026, the new smartphone family consists of the REDMI Note 17, REDMI Note 17 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G and the brand’s first-ever REDMI Note Pro Max model, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.
The headline-grabbing model is undoubtedly the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, which packs Xiaomi’s largest-ever smartphone battery at 10,000mAh, while supporting 100W HyperCharge and 27W reverse charging.
But battery capacity is not the only thing Xiaomi is highlighting. The new REDMI Note 17 family also puts a strong emphasis on durability, charging performance and everyday usability.
REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G Brings a Huge 10,000mAh Battery
For users who are tired of constantly looking for a charger, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G could be an interesting proposition.
The smartphone comes equipped with a massive 10,000mAh battery, making it the largest smartphone battery Xiaomi has offered to date.
Despite the huge capacity, Xiaomi has paired it with 100W HyperCharge, allowing users to recharge the device quickly when they do eventually run low on power.
The phone also supports 27W reverse charging, which means its large battery can be used to provide power to other compatible devices.
Under the hood, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, positioning it as the most powerful model in the new lineup.
Built for Durability with Multiple Protection Standards
Xiaomi is also placing a major emphasis on durability with the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G.
Both Pro models are the first in the industry to receive the TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification, with full certification across three dimensions.
The smartphones feature an advanced waterproof architecture with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, providing a high level of protection against dust and water.
Adding another layer of protection is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is designed to help protect the display against everyday scratches and accidental drops.
For a smartphone designed to survive the demands of everyday use, these durability features could be just as important as performance specifications.
REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G Offers a More Accessible Pro Experience
Sitting below the Pro Max is the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, which is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform.
Like the Pro Max, the Pro model also receives TÜV SÜD’s 5-star Titan Quality Certification, along with the comprehensive IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection ratings.
This gives consumers another option if they want the durability and features associated with the Pro lineup without stepping up to the top-tier Pro Max model.
REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G Focus on Battery Life
The standard models are not exactly small when it comes to battery capacity either.
Both the REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G feature a 7,700mAh battery with support for 45W turbo charging.
Xiaomi says both models have also received TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification, with their battery longevity validated according to the same rigorous standard.
For added protection, both smartphones feature IP65 dust and water resistance and are equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
That should make them suitable for users who want a phone capable of handling everyday scratches, splashes and dusty environments.
REDMI Watch 6 Active Adds AMOLED Display and Long Battery Life
The smartphone launch was accompanied by two new smartwatches, starting with the REDMI Watch 6 Active.
The watch features a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with up to 1,200 nits peak brightness, making information easier to see in different lighting conditions.
It also features an Always-on Display, while the slim 9.9mm body and lightweight 26g design are intended to make it comfortable enough for all-day use.
Fitness users get more than 140 sports modes, along with health features including all-day heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen tracking, stress monitoring, sleep tracking and women’s health management.
The REDMI Watch 6 Active also supports Bluetooth calling, allowing users to make and receive calls directly from their wrist.
Battery life is another highlight, with Xiaomi claiming up to 18 days under light usage.
REDMI Watch 6 Lite Targets More Serious Fitness Users
The REDMI Watch 6 Lite takes things a step further with a larger 1.96-inch AMOLED display and up to 1,500 nits peak brightness.
It retains the slim 9.9mm design while weighing just 27.8g.
One of its more interesting features is built-in five-system GNSS positioning, allowing users to track their outdoor routes without needing to carry their smartphone.
Swimming enthusiasts also get dedicated tracking features. Its 9-axis sensor can recognise swimming strokes and provide information such as average speed, underwater heart-rate changes and SWOLF efficiency.
With more than 150 sports modes, 5ATM water resistance and up to 18 days of battery life under light usage, the Watch 6 Lite is clearly aimed at users who want more fitness-focused capabilities from their smartwatch.
REDMI Headphones Neo Gets a New Mist Blue Colour
Xiaomi has also introduced a new Mist Blue colour option for the REDMI Headphones Neo.
The headphones feature 42dB Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which automatically adjusts noise reduction according to changes in the surrounding environment.
For calls, the headphones use a triple-microphone AI call noise reduction system designed to improve voice clarity in challenging environments.
Audiophiles may also appreciate the Hi-Res certification, which supports high-quality audio transmission.
REDMI Boss for a Day Event Coming to Xiaomi Store TRX
To celebrate the Malaysian launch, Xiaomi will hold its “REDMI Boss for a Day: Meerqeen” event at Xiaomi Store The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur on September 5, 2026.
Customers who pre-ordered the REDMI Note 17 Pro Series can begin collecting their devices from 10AM.

With a massive 10,000mAh battery on the Pro Max, fast 100W charging, multiple durability certifications and a new range of REDMI wearables, the REDMI Note 17 Series looks set to be one of Xiaomi’s major smartphone launches in Malaysia for 2026.
