Bragg Pickleball Challenge 2026 Celebrates Pickleball, Wellness and Community

Pickleball is quickly becoming one of Malaysia’s most exciting recreational sports, attracting players from different age groups and backgrounds. From casual players and families to competitive athletes and seniors, more Malaysians are picking up a paddle and discovering the fun of staying active together.

This growing trend was clearly seen at the Bragg Pickleball Challenge 2026, which returned for its second edition at Pickleball Playground in Shah Alam on 1 September 2026.

Organised by Matahari Sdn Bhd, the official Malaysian distributor of Bragg, together with BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy, the tournament brought together more than 100 novice teams, competitive players, senior participants, KOLs and wellness brands.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s event expanded its focus beyond competition by celebrating active living, friendship and healthy lifestyles.

A New 50+ Category Opens the Court to More Malaysians

One of the biggest highlights of the Bragg Pickleball Challenge 2026 was the introduction of the Senior Doubles 50+ category.

The new category reflects the growing interest in pickleball among Malaysians aged 50 and above. Unlike some sports that can be physically demanding, pickleball’s accessible nature makes it an attractive option for people looking to remain active while enjoying a social environment.

Tux Wuan, Director of Matahari Sdn Bhd, said pickleball has a unique ability to bring people of different generations together.

For him, healthy living is not simply about food and drinks. Movement, happiness, relationships and community are equally important parts of maintaining a healthier lifestyle.

This is perhaps one of the reasons pickleball has continued to gain popularity. Players can compete, exercise and socialise at the same time, making the sport suitable for friends, families and even colleagues.

Bringing Pickleball to a Wider Audience

The tournament also attracted several popular Malaysian KOCs and KOLs, including Grace Lim, Xin Lim, Sammi Yap and Chong Yi Ling.

Their participation helped introduce pickleball to audiences outside the traditional sporting community, particularly through social media and lifestyle content.

With influencers and content creators joining the event, pickleball is increasingly being presented not just as a competitive sport but as part of a wider lifestyle centred around fitness, wellness and social connections.

For newcomers who may be intimidated by traditional competitive sports, this more relaxed and social image of pickleball could also make it easier to give the sport a try.

The 360° Camera Was a Crowd Favourite

While the matches were obviously the main attraction, the Bragg Pickleball Challenge 2026 also included a 360° camera experience and photobooth.

The attraction quickly became a favourite among players, supporters, sponsors and guests, giving everyone an opportunity to capture creative videos and photographs during the event.

It added a fun and shareable element to the tournament, particularly for participants looking to create memorable social media content.

More importantly, it reinforced the idea that the event was about more than simply winning matches. For many attendees, meeting new people, spending time with friends and creating memories were equally important parts of the experience.

Wellness Beyond the Pharmacy Counter

The partnership between Matahari, BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy also highlighted a broader commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles.

BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy returned as key partners for the second edition, supporting an event that connected physical activity, wellness and community engagement.

Wong Siew Lai, Chief Marketing Officer of BIG CARING Group, said community pharmacies have an important role in making health and wellness part of everyday life.

Events such as the Bragg Pickleball Challenge provide an opportunity to bring conversations about health and wellbeing directly into communities, encouraging Malaysians of different ages to stay active and take a more proactive approach to their health.

From Real Food to Real Life

Matahari Sdn Bhd was established in 2016 and specialises in organic and natural products. As Bragg’s official Malaysian distributor, the company has helped bring the brand’s long-standing natural wellness heritage to local consumers.

Bragg, which has more than 100 years of heritage in apple cider vinegar, is closely associated with natural wellness around the world.

Matahari’s philosophy, “Real Food for Real People,” reflects the idea that healthier living goes beyond the products people consume. It is also about awareness, better choices and positive habits that can be maintained in everyday life.

The Bragg Pickleball Challenge brings that philosophy into the real world by combining food, movement, wellness, friendship and community.

Building a Healthier Pickleball Community

With the successful second edition of the Bragg Pickleball Challenge, it is clear that pickleball has plenty of room to grow in Malaysia.

The introduction of the 50+ category is particularly encouraging, showing that the sport can bring together multiple generations on the same court.

Rather than being simply another tournament, the Bragg Pickleball Challenge is positioning itself as a platform for Malaysians to move more, connect with others and embrace healthier lifestyles.

And if the growing popularity of pickleball is anything to go by, the sport could soon become an even bigger part of Malaysia’s fitness, wellness and social culture.
