Just five days after dropping a new single and music video titled SERU, Altimet pulls off yet another shocker with the announcement of follow-up single in AMBOI.
Funked-up samples and infectious brass riffs that gel with the bouncing bass beats, provide an unlikely backdrop to his satirical style on social commentary and sharp observations to comedic effect.
AMBOI is perhaps one of the defining tracks of Altimet’s brand, with the prolific rapper succeeding in his union of the authentic old skool vibe of simple hooks and beats, with an organic brand of storytelling in his verses that are truly Malaysian in delivery.
Produced and composed by Navigator, with lyrics by Altimet, AMBOI is Malaysian in every way from the lyrical style of the simple and addictive chorus to the accompanying ‘dikir barat’ choral assertions.
The music video done in collage cut-out style animation is hilarious and the ‘cameos’ from the likes of Joe Flizzow, Sona One, Ucopppp and Syuk SYJ and even Azwan Ali (best known for his ‘Amboi Amboi Amboi’ trademark) – downplays the bitingly critical lyrics.
Produced by Fluid, AMBOI is directed by Sharizal Abd. Halim, with animation and motion graphics by Zulhelmi Zainuddin & Azarikh Amran.
AMBOI is also the title track of Altimet’s new album that’s being launched on the same date as this single release.
