Astro through its corporate responsibility arm, Astro Kasih continues its commitment towards raising the bar for Malaysian football through Astro Kem Bola.
Now in its fifth year, the football program records participation of more than 12,000 children aged 10 to 12. Over the past four years, 150 kids have undergone intensive training conducted by leading football clubs in Europe.
This year, Astro Kem Bola has also expanded its presence beyond Malaysia to Singapore and Philippines, by partnering StarHub, Football Association of Singapore (FAS) and Globe Telecom. 21 talented footballers from Singapore and Philippines were selected to train in Kuala Lumpur.
As part of the programme, 72 girls and boys between the ages of 10 to 12 years old were selected from the football training clinics held in Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines to train in Kuala Lumpur.
Following the training, 32 young footballers will gain the opportunity to be trained under one of the most successful soccer training methodologies through the Astro Kem Bola Overseas Training Programme powered by F.C. Barcelona and sponsored by Head & Shoulders in Barcelona, Spain in December.
In addition, the training will culminate in a tour and a LIVE football game at Camp Nou, the biggest football stadium in Europe.
