Stephen Barton returns to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise, bringing his musical expertise to the latest chapter of the series.

Known for his work on projects such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Barton is responsible for scoring the game’s high-intensity single-player campaign. The story takes players across several international locations, including the Korean Peninsula, New York, Paris and Mumbai.

To complement the campaign’s global setting and darker narrative, Barton delivers a powerful soundtrack built around thunderous orchestration and complex musical arrangements.

The score also features collaborations with South Korean post-rock band JAMBINAI and musician Luna Lee, who brings the distinctive sound of the traditional Korean string instrument, the gayageum, into the compositions.

These musical contributions add an interesting cultural dimension to the soundtrack, creating a unique combination of modern cinematic music and traditional Korean influences.

Jason Graves Brings His Signature Sound to Multiplayer

Jason Graves Brings His Signature Sound

While Stephen Barton takes charge of the campaign soundtrack, Jason Graves contributes his compositions to the game’s Multiplayer experience.

Graves is widely recognised for his work on the Dead Space franchise and his distinctive approach to creating atmospheric and memorable video game music.

For Modern Warfare 4, Graves takes a slightly different musical direction, incorporating elements inspired by his background in bass guitar and drums.

Describing the soundtrack with just one word, Graves calls it “swagger”, highlighting the energetic and confident musical direction behind his compositions.

His approach combines live musicians with different musical elements to create a soundtrack that complements the fast-paced action and competitive atmosphere of Multiplayer.

The collaboration between Barton and Graves gives the album two distinct musical identities while maintaining the overall intensity associated with the Call of Duty franchise.

A Collaboration Between International Musicians

The soundtrack also brings together an impressive group of international musicians and collaborators.

Apart from JAMBINAI and Luna Lee, the production features contributions from Azam Ali, MB Gordy, Brain and several talented string players.

The album was produced for Infinity Ward by veteran score producer Jonathan Mayer and his team at Spider Farm Productions.

Barton expressed his excitement about returning to the franchise nearly 20 years after the original Modern Warfare, describing the opportunity as a special experience.

He also highlighted the strong relationships he has built with the development and music production teams over the years, while expressing appreciation for the musicians who helped shape the soundtrack.
