K-drama fans have another exciting series to look forward to this year as Disney+ officially announced the premiere of Doctor on the Edge, a brand-new romantic medical drama starring rising Korean stars Lee Jaewook and Shin Yeeun.
Set to debut on 1 June 2026, the upcoming series blends romance, emotional healing, comedy, and medical drama against the backdrop of a remote Korean island where everyone seems to know everyone else’s business.
A New Life Far Away From The City
Doctor on the Edge follows the story of Do Jiui, played by Lee Jaewook, a highly ambitious plastic surgery resident who has spent years focusing solely on his studies and career goals.
Known for shutting himself off emotionally in pursuit of success, Jiui’s carefully planned future suddenly changes when he is assigned to complete his mandatory military service on Pyeondongdo, a small and isolated Korean island.
What was supposed to be a temporary assignment quickly becomes a nightmare.
From the moment Jiui steps onto the ferry heading to the island, everything begins going wrong. Struggling to adapt to the unfamiliar environment and overwhelmed by the island’s close-knit community, Jiui finds himself emotionally exhausted and questioning how he ended up there.
A Chance Encounter Changes Everything
Things begin to shift when Jiui meets Yuk Hari, a cheerful and caring nurse portrayed by Shin Yeeun.
Hari recently moved from the city to Pyeondongdo under mysterious circumstances, and while her reasons remain unknown, she quickly becomes Jiui’s biggest source of support.
As the two navigate island life together, their relationship slowly develops into something deeper, bringing warmth and emotional healing into each other’s lives.
The drama promises a heartfelt mix of romance, humour, and personal growth, while also exploring themes of isolation, ambition, and human connection.

The series brings together an impressive lineup both in front of and behind the camera.
Lee Jaewook is widely known for his performances in popular dramas such as Alchemy of Souls and The Impossible Heir, while Shin Yeeun gained recognition through titles like Revenge of Others and The Murky Stream.
The drama is directed by Lee Myoungwoo, known for hit productions including The Fiery Priest, with the screenplay written by Kim Jisoo.
