Dongfeng Motor Corporation has officially strengthened its footprint in Malaysia’s fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) segment with the introduction of two new models — the Dongfeng 007 electric sedan and the Dongfeng VIGO electric SUV.
This latest expansion signals a new phase for Dongfeng in Malaysia as Volt Auto collaborates with Central Auto Distributors Bhd to introduce intelligent, lifestyle-focused EVs designed for modern drivers.
As Malaysia continues to see rising interest in electric mobility, Dongfeng is positioning both models as forward-looking vehicles that combine performance, advanced technology, and everyday practicality.
To make the ownership journey more attractive, Dongfeng is offering an extended ownership package for both models.
This includes a free ABB wall box home charger, a six-year vehicle warranty with unlimited mileage, and an eight-year powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage — a strong reassurance for Malaysians transitioning to EVs.
Dongfeng 007: A Next-Generation Performance Electric Sedan
Leading this expansion is the Dongfeng 007, a sleek next-generation electric sedan engineered for drivers who appreciate dynamic performance and futuristic design. With its stylish liftback silhouette and bold design language, the 007 reflects Dongfeng’s vision of modern electric sedans that merge speed, intelligence, and versatility.
Built with urban lifestyles in mind, the 007 delivers a confident and responsive driving experience. Performance highlights include 0–100 km/h acceleration in just 3.9 seconds, a driving range of up to 650 km, and ultra-fast charging that can bring the battery to 80% in only 11 minutes.
These figures position the 007 among the more performance-oriented EV sedans in its segment.
Inside, the cabin experience is equally premium. The sedan is equipped with a WANOS Premium 19-speaker surround sound system with headrest audio, elevating in-car entertainment and comfort. Its electric liftback design also enhances practicality, offering flexibility for both daily use and longer journeys.
Following a high-profile launch in Singapore, the Dongfeng 007 enters Malaysia as a statement model aimed at competing in the premium electric sedan category. The model is expected to be priced from RM161,000 after a special launch discount, making it an appealing option for urban professionals who value both performance and design.
Dongfeng VIGO: An Electric SUV Built for Lifestyle and Family Needs
Making its Malaysian debut alongside the 007 is the Dongfeng VIGO, an electric SUV designed to support everyday life, family routines, and active lifestyles. Despite its compact SUV footprint, the VIGO delivers impressive interior space thanks to its 2,715 mm wheelbase, a 500-litre boot, and an additional hidden storage compartment.
One of the VIGO’s most unique features is the innovative “Heaven and Earth Gate” split tailgate, which can support up to 150 kg. This clever design transforms the rear of the vehicle into a functional platform for camping, tailgating, or outdoor gatherings — highlighting Dongfeng’s focus on versatility and lifestyle-driven design.
The interior is centred around a Smart Cockpit with a 12.8-inch HD touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Intelligent scene modes such as Rest, Camping, and Music Speaker allow the cabin to adapt to different usage scenarios.
Convenience features include a 50W wireless fast charger, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with music synchronisation, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability to power outdoor appliances.
On the road, the VIGO enhances confidence with Level 2 ADAS and a 540° panoramic camera with transparent chassis view, making manoeuvring easier. It also supports DC fast charging up to 167 kW, enabling an 80% charge in around 9 minutes.
The VIGO is expected to start from RM100,000 after launch discounts, positioning it as a value-driven electric SUV option.
Dongfeng Ambassador Search and Long-Term Commitment
To celebrate its Malaysian entry, Dongfeng is launching a Dongfeng Ambassador Search, inviting Malaysians to be part of the brand’s journey. Three ambassadors will be selected, winning cash prizes of up to RM100,000 and a year of car sponsorship.
