Garena has revealed a first look at the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2024 roadmap — featuring a revamped esports system that will see all local leagues retitled to carry the FFWS branding.
The change is part of Free Fire’s efforts to elevate its esports ecosystem, through creating a standardised tournament branding and promoting a comprehensible identity for its global audience.
Under the new system, each local FFWS league will also lead to the FFWS Global Finals in November. More details on the full 2024 roadmap, including the lineup of international events and Global Finals location, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Introducing FFWS Southeast Asia, the newest regional league for the top teams in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam
As part of ongoing efforts to develop and nurture local talent, Free Fire will introduce FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024, a new regional league providing budding pro teams and players a bigger stage to shine on.
The league will host two major tournaments in 2024, namely FFWS SEA Spring and FFWS SEA Fall. A total of 18 teams — 5 each from Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam, and 3 from Malaysia — will participate in these regional tournaments through direct invitations or local qualifiers.
Malaysia’s slots will be made up of 2 directly invited teams and 1 qualifying team from FFWS Malaysia Spring 2024, formerly known as the MCPS Majors.
Featuring a USD300,000 prize pool, FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will run from Mar 22 to May 26. The regional tournament will kick-start with six weekends of online matches, before culminating in the Grand Final weekend from May 24 to 26.
Local qualifiers for FFWS SEA Spring 2024 will be held from January to February. Interested players can look forward to registering for FFWS Malaysia in late January, and the League Stage that will kick off later in February.
