“Griya: Rahsia Seorang Lelaki” Premieres on iQIYI and Netflix

Griya Rahsia Seorang Lelaki

Malaysian streaming audiences are set for an intense emotional ride as Griya: Rahsia Seorang Lelaki premieres on 9 May 2026 on iQIYI and Netflix.

Combining psychological thriller elements with relationship-driven storytelling, the new local drama promises a gripping experience filled with deception, emotional conflict, and dangerous secrets.

Produced by Skop Productions, the series explores the darker side of trust and relationships, asking one haunting question: what if the person you trust most is hiding the biggest secret of all?

A Story Filled with Mystery and Manipulation

The drama follows Sophia, a brilliant and principled lawyer portrayed by Chacha Maembong. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she becomes involved in a mysterious missing persons investigation handled by her close friend, Detective Liana, played by Scha Alyahya.

As the investigation unfolds, clues begin pointing toward Razman Hashim, a respected and seemingly perfect husband portrayed by Nazim Othman. Despite his charming appearance and admirable reputation, Razman is believed to be hiding disturbing secrets beneath the surface.

Determined to uncover the truth, Sophia makes the risky decision to get close to Razman and enter his personal life. However, the deeper she becomes involved, the more difficult it is to separate truth from manipulation. What begins as an investigation slowly transforms into a dangerous emotional game where trust becomes increasingly fragile.

A Different Direction for Skop Productions

According to producer and Managing Director of Skop Productions, Shamin Yusof, Griya represents a fresh creative direction for the company.

Known for action, horror, and dramatic productions, Skop Productions decided to explore a darker and more psychological style of storytelling this time around. The series focuses heavily on character development, emotional tension, and moral dilemmas rather than relying solely on traditional suspense elements.

Shamin explained that the unpredictable nature of the story is one of the drama’s biggest strengths, with every episode designed to shift viewers’ perceptions of the characters and challenge assumptions about loyalty and love.

Reflecting Modern Relationship Issues

Beyond its thrilling mystery, Griya also tackles themes highly relevant to modern society. The series explores emotional manipulation, toxic relationships, ignored warning signs, and the dangers of trusting someone without fully understanding who they truly are.

This psychological depth is expected to spark strong audience discussions online, especially among younger viewers who enjoy analysing character motivations and hidden clues in modern thriller series.

Head of Local Original Content at iQIYI, Zebedee De Costa, shared that today’s audiences are looking for stories that go beyond simple entertainment.

According to him, viewers now want narratives that encourage debate and emotional engagement, making Griya an ideal addition to iQIYI’s growing lineup of bold Malaysian originals.

Expanding Malaysian Content Internationally

The drama also marks another important collaboration between iQIYI and Netflix through a co-exclusive streaming partnership. Senior Managing Director of iQIYI SEA, Dinesh Ratnam, described the collaboration as a significant step in bringing Malaysian storytelling to wider regional audiences.

With universal themes surrounding trust, deception, and emotional conflict, Griya has strong potential to resonate with viewers beyond Malaysia while still maintaining a distinctly local identity.

Strong Cast and Emotional Storytelling

Alongside the lead trio, the series features an impressive supporting cast including Dynas Mokhtar, Hazama, Nia Atasha, Hanna Aqeela, and Marisa Yasmin.

The emotional atmosphere of the drama is further elevated through its official soundtrack titled Sakit, performed by Zyn Akal and composed alongside Yonnyboii.

Griya: Rahsia Seorang Lelaki premieres on 9 May 2026 with two new episodes released every Saturday and Sunday on iQIYI and Netflix.

Blending suspense, emotional conflict, and psychological tension, the series promises to deliver a fresh and darker experience for Malaysian drama fans. With its layered storytelling and unpredictable twists, Griya could become one of the most talked-about local thrillers of the year.
