Keeping track of everyday belongings could become easier with the arrival of the new Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3, a compact smart tracker designed to help users locate items, monitor movement and stay informed when something goes missing.
Announced by Samsung Electronics on 2 October 2026, the Galaxy SmartTag3 combines a smaller and lighter design with longer battery life, improved finding capabilities, cross-operating-system support and new proactive alerts.
Smaller and Lighter for Everyday Use
One of the biggest changes with the Galaxy SmartTag3 is its redesigned form factor. Samsung says the new tracker is approximately 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter compared with the previous generation.
This makes it easier to attach the tracker to everyday items such as keys, smaller bags, luggage and pet collars.
The rounded design also features an aluminum-decorated button, giving the SmartTag3 a more refined and durable appearance. Samsung is also offering accessories such as a Silicone Case with keyring and a Loop Case, although these accessories are sold separately.
For families and groups using different smartphone platforms, the Galaxy SmartTag3 also introduces cross-OS compatibility for Galaxy and iOS devices for the first time in the SmartTag lineup.
Through SmartThings Find, users can check and share a tag’s location and use supported finding features across compatible devices.
Up to 790 Days of Battery Life
Battery life is another major highlight of the new tracker.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 can deliver up to 550 days of battery life under standard usage, while Power Saving Mode can extend battery life to up to 790 days.
That means users can attach the tracker to their luggage, keys or other belongings without having to worry about replacing the battery frequently.
Samsung notes that actual battery performance may vary depending on usage patterns, environmental conditions and other factors.
Find Your Belongings From Further Away
When something goes missing, finding it quickly is often the most important thing. Galaxy SmartTag3 improves this experience with an expanded range for its Compass View feature.
With Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, Compass View can provide distance and directional guidance from up to 60 metres away under line-of-sight conditions. Samsung says this is around three times farther than the previous generation.
As users get closer to the tagged item, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology can provide greater precision for a more continuous finding experience.
For example, if your keys disappear somewhere in a large park, Compass View can help narrow down the search from a greater distance before guiding you more precisely as you get closer.
Powered by More Than 900 Million Galaxy Devices
The Galaxy SmartTag3 is not limited to the Bluetooth connection with your smartphone.
When the tracker moves beyond direct connection range, the Galaxy Find Network can help continue the search. According to Samsung, more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide can act as finding nodes.
These nearby Galaxy devices can help detect a SmartTag3 and update its location, potentially providing new location information even when the tracker is far away from its owner’s smartphone.
Samsung has also improved the speed of Galaxy Find Network updates, helping users receive new location information sooner after a tracker becomes disconnected.
New Alerts Help You Stay Informed
The Galaxy SmartTag3 is designed not only to help find lost belongings but also to provide information before users need to start searching.
A new Place Notification feature allows users to define an area and receive an alert when a tagged item moves into or out of that area.
This could be useful for monitoring a pet that leaves the garden or a bicycle that moves away from its usual parking location.
There is also Location History, which allows users to review where their tag has been, while Movement Detection Alert can notify users when movement is detected.
Designed With Privacy in Mind
Samsung has also retained several practical features from its SmartTag experience.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 comes with an IP67 water and dust resistance rating, while NFC-powered Lost Mode can display registered contact information or a short message when a lost tag is scanned using a compatible mobile device.
The tag button can also be used with compatible SmartThings IoT routines, allowing users to trigger preset actions for connected devices.
Meanwhile, Left Behind Alert can notify users when their mobile device loses connection with a tagged belonging.
Samsung says location data is encrypted to help protect user privacy and security.
Galaxy SmartTag3 Availability
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 will first be available in South Korea from 7 October 2026, followed by the United States, with additional markets scheduled to follow in 2027.
The new tracker will be offered in White and Black.
With its smaller design, extended battery life, cross-OS compatibility and more advanced finding capabilities, the Galaxy SmartTag3 looks set to become a useful everyday companion for people who want a little more peace of mind when it comes to their belongings.
