Team Liquid PH Makes Esports History with MSC 2025 Victory at Esports World Cup

In a groundbreaking moment for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports, Team Liquid PH (TLPH) emerged as champions of the Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC), completing an unprecedented clean sweep of every major MLBB title.

In doing so, TLPH didn’t just win another tournament—they etched their names permanently into the annals of esports history.

The Filipino juggernaut defeated Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG.OG) 4-1 in the Grand Finals at the STC Esports Arena, Riyadh, before a sold-out crowd.

They walked away with USD 1,000,000 of the MSC’s staggering USD 3,000,000 prize pool—the largest in MSC and MLBB history.

A Trophy Cabinet Now Complete

With this MSC victory, Team Liquid PH became the first team to win every major MLBB championship, including the prestigious M Series, multiple MPL Philippines titles, and now MSC.

The championship win at EWC 25 adds the missing jewel to their trophy cabinet and confirms their status as MLBB’s greatest-ever team.

Their journey to this crowning moment began with a nail-biting 4-3 victory over ONIC PH in the MPL Philippines Season 15 Grand Finals.

With momentum and national pride on their side, TLPH dominated the MSC tournament from start to finish, remaining unbeaten in match play.

Team Liquid PH – Stars Among Legends

TLPH’s success was led by a legendary lineup:

  • Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Jungler)
  • Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Mid Laner)
  • Jay Pee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz (Roamer)
  • Kiel “Oheb” Soriano (Gold Laner)
  • Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya (EXP Laner)
  • John “Perkziva” Sumawan (Substitute)

KarlTzy, one of MLBB’s most iconic figures, finally secured the elusive Career Grand Slam, having now won both global titles (M Series & MSC) and four domestic MPL PH trophies. His victory signals the peak of an already legendary career.

But the spotlight of the finals fell on Sanford, who earned MVP honours after a dominating performance. His inspirational journey—from family hardship to global stardom—was recently documented in Amazon Prime’s docuseries Level Up.

Sanford’s ability to perform under pressure, while being the breadwinner of his household, captured the hearts of fans worldwide.

Selangor Red Giants OG Esports : A Worthy Finalist

Malaysian powerhouse SRG.OG, defending MSC champions, may have fallen short in the Grand Finals, but their legacy continues to grow. By reaching back-to-back MSC finals, they became the first team in history to do so, embodying their battle cry, #PantangMengalah (“Never Give Up”).

They walk away with USD 500,000 and the respect of millions across Southeast Asia.

ONIC PH Takes Bronze in All-Filipino Showdown

Rounding out the top three was ONIC PH, who clinched a narrow 3-2 victory over ONIC ID in the third-place decider. The win not only secured bragging rights in the ONIC family but reaffirmed the Philippines’ dominance in global MLBB.

Mid Season Cup at Esports World Cup 2025: Breaking Records and Borders

The tournament didn’t just crown champions—it set new records for global esports. According to Esports Charts:

  • 3,067,670 peak concurrent viewers (PCV)—a new high for EWC history
  • 50+ million hours watched
  • 600,000 average concurrent viewers (ACV)

This makes MSC at EWC 25 the most-watched event in EWC history and the third most popular esports event globally in 2025. TikTok’s contribution to viewership saw a 16% year-on-year increase, reflecting MLBB’s growing reach among Gen Z audiences.

Esports Charts’ co-founder, Artyom Odintsov, called the MSC “a blueprint for elite esports tournaments,” citing its audience reach and production quality as defining factors in elevating MLBB’s global reputation.

Expanded Format, Global Talent

MSC 2025 also featured the most competitive field yet, with 16 regional teams competing, including the return of Japan’s ZETA Division and underdog qualifiers Virtus.pro from the MLBB Continental Championships.

The event introduced new tournament formats, including a Third Place Match and tougher qualification paths. These changes pushed teams to adapt, innovate, and excel—raising the overall quality and intensity of the competition.

Tiger Xu, Global Head of Esports at MOONTON Games, reflected on MSC’s growth:

“This edition is the result of years nurturing the ecosystem. MLBB Esports has become a platform where athletes rewrite history and redefine excellence.”

His sentiment captures what this year’s MSC represented—not just a competition, but a global celebration of esports evolution, athleticism, and opportunity.
