TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 | TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, unveiled today a region-wide All-Star talent competition that aims to discover and incubate new creators in Southeast Asia, even as a study reveals that short-form video is one of the top three content formats that people prefer to use as a tool to express their creative ideas.
The inaugural TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 competition is open for submission today across all six markets in the region including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Based on a study conducted with YouGov, an international research and data analytics group, photo/illustrations (63%), short-form video (51%) and music (44%) are identified by respondents across Southeast Asia as the top three content formats preferred to express creativity.
The study also finds photo/illustrations (69%), music (60%) and short-form video (56%) as the top three content formats that inspire creativity.
When asked about the importance of digital content creators, majority of the respondents across Southeast Asia 1 agree that content creators are important today (85%) and will become even more important in the future (78%).
Of those who agree, the top reasons include marketing moving away from traditional content and towards more digital content (62%), the variety of digital content that has something for everyone (58%), and the fact that creators provide a source of inspiration for others (55%).
By offering a home for creative expression with its easy-to-use video capturing and editing tools, TikTok is the perfect fit for budding talents seeking to showcase their ideas through short-form videos.
Whether it is combining their own photos with various on-screen effects and music or creating videos with the most popular music, TikTok supports creators to develop content and achieve the most ideal effect that reflects their creative desire.
TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019
Starting from 8 to 14 November, TikTok users in Malaysia can participate in the competition by uploading original videos that showcase their creative talent according to the below themes along with the corresponding hashtags:
- Talent (Dance, Singing, Art, Handcraft, Street Performance, etc.) ~ #TalentAllStarMY
- Acting (Comedy, Acting, Parody, Story-telling, etc.) ~ #ActingAllStarMY
- Lifestyle (Vlog, Food, Travel, Pets, Fashion, Sports, etc.) ~ #LifestyleAllStarMY
The top 60 videos in each country will go through a round of public voting where the best 10 finalists in each category (30 finalists per country in total) will be selected to compete at the regional level.
Users in Malaysia can vote for their favorite videos by clicking the TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 banner in the TikTok app and visiting the voting page from 15 to 18 November.
Following the national round, the finalists from Malaysia will compete at the regional level with creators from across Southeast Asia including Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 Celebrity Jury
The regional round of the competition will be held from 21 to 25 November with the final winner announcement for TikTok All-Star Southeast Asia 2019 to be made on 1 December. There are a total of US$12,000 worth of prizes and 16 awards to be won, more details about the awards and prizes can be found here.
