Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar Launches in Malaysia: AMOLED Display, Solar Charging and RM2,799 Price

Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar Launches in Malaysia

Amazfit has introduced the T-Rex Dual Solar, a premium expedition smartwatch designed for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers and adventurers who need reliable performance far away from conventional power sources.

Announced in Kuala Lumpur on 20 October 2026, the new smartwatch combines a bright AMOLED display with an innovative dual-sided solar charging system. According to Amazfit, it is the world’s first AMOLED smartwatch to feature solar charging from both the front display and a glass-ceramic back plate.

Priced at RM2,799 in Malaysia, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar will be available from 23 October 2026 through the brand’s official website and selected retail platforms.

Dual-Sided Solar Charging for Longer Adventures

One of the biggest highlights of the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar is its dual-sided solar charging technology, which provides two ways to collect solar energy.

The front solar panel collects sunlight while users wear the watch outdoors. Under Amazfit’s typical-use testing conditions, three hours of daily exposure to sunlight at 50,000 lux can extend battery life from up to 25 days to up to 34 days.

Meanwhile, the rear solar panel is integrated into the watch’s glass-ceramic back plate. With twice the solar collection area of the front panel, it offers another way to gather energy when the watch is removed and placed under sunlight.

For situations where battery conservation is essential, Solar Priority Mode activates an ultra-low-power state designed to maximise off-wrist solar energy recovery.

This approach gives outdoor enthusiasts another source of power when access to electrical outlets or portable chargers is limited.

A Reliable Companion for Remote Exploration

For hikers, climbers and expedition travellers, smartwatch battery life can be particularly important when navigation tools are needed in unfamiliar environments.

The T-Rex Dual Solar offers an Outdoor Extreme battery mode that reduces power consumption while keeping essential outdoor functions, including GPS track points, available. Its new Expedition activity mode is designed to support multi-day journeys and longer periods away from a charger.

Amazfit athlete and alpinist Jost Kobusch highlighted the practical value of solar charging in remote environments, where maintaining access to navigation can be more important than everyday charging convenience.

The watch also features a 660mAh battery, offering up to 25 days of typical use and up to 41 hours in Accuracy GPS Mode. Actual battery performance will depend on usage, settings and environmental conditions.

Rugged Design with a Bright AMOLED Display

Despite its expedition-focused design, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar does not compromise on display quality.

It features a 1.32-inch full-colour AMOLED display with peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, helping users view maps, routes and important information in bright outdoor conditions.

The watch is built with a Grade 5 titanium bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal for added durability. It also offers 10 ATM water resistance and supports recreational diving to depths of up to 50 metres.

For nighttime activities, a built-in flashlight with a red-light option provides lower-intensity illumination that helps preserve night vision.

Together, these features make the smartwatch suitable for demanding outdoor environments while remaining practical for everyday wear.

Advanced Navigation and Live Location Sharing

Navigation is another key feature of the T-Rex Dual Solar. The smartwatch comes with preloaded full-colour maps featuring expanded road networks, alongside downloadable contour and ski maps.

Users can access intelligent route planning, turn-by-turn navigation, advanced waypoint navigation and points of interest (POI) displays.

Another useful feature is Navigation Gradient Curve, which presents a colour-coded elevation profile to help adventurers identify upcoming climbs and descents along their routes.

The watch also supports LiveShare, allowing users to share their real-time location, heading and key activity information with friends, family or teammates. This can provide additional peace of mind during outdoor adventures.

Training and Recovery Insights with the Zepp App

Beyond navigation and battery endurance, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar works with the Zepp App to bring training, recovery and outdoor activity data together in one place.

The app provides personalised insights to help users better understand their performance and prepare for future activities. Amazfit also highlights that these insights are available without requiring a subscription.
