Tigers Sniff the Rose: Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui Reunite in New Chinese Period Drama on Disney+
Disney+ is bringing another exciting Chinese period drama to its streaming platform with Tigers Sniff the Rose, premiering on October 23, 2026. Starring Meng Ziyi and Li Yunrui, the series promises a compelling mix of romance, imperial politics and palace intrigue.
Fans who enjoyed the chemistry between the two actors in Blossom can look forward to seeing them reunite in this new historical drama, which explores the challenges of love and power in a turbulent imperial court.
A Story of Romance, Power and Political Intrigue
Adapted from the popular web novel Esteemed Princess by Yiren Kuikui, Tigers Sniff the Rose follows the unexpected relationship between Princess Mu Wanyao and Yan Shang, a talented scholar from a humble background.
Meng Ziyi, known for her roles in Blossom and The Untamed, stars as Princess Mu Wanyao. Meanwhile, Li Yunrui, who also appeared in Blossom and Love Like the Galaxy, plays Yan Shang, a brilliant but humble court official.
Despite their different social backgrounds, the two characters find themselves working together as they navigate complicated emotions and the dangerous political landscape of the imperial court.
Their journey goes beyond romance. As the kingdom faces a national crisis, they must confront political power struggles and find a way to restore peace and prosperity to the realm.
With a storyline combining emotional relationships and historical drama, Tigers Sniff the Rose could appeal to viewers who enjoy Chinese costume dramas filled with romance, ambition and unexpected challenges.
Experienced Creative Team Behind the Series
The series is directed by Qin Zhen, whose previous works include Lost You Forever and Love Scenery. The screenplay is adapted by He Fang, known for projects such as Till the End of the Moon and Blossoms in Adversity.
With an experienced creative team and two familiar faces from Blossom, the drama arrives with plenty of reasons for Chinese drama fans to add it to their watchlist.
