Asia’s premier gin festival is back for a fifth edition. Premium beverage maker East Imperial celebrates all things gin with their fifth annual East Imperial Gin Jubilee.
With three national jubilees held in Singapore from 2013 – 2015, and the inaugural regional jubilee held last year, the festival seeks to spread gin culture across Asia, with individual jubilees in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh, Singapore, and a new addition this year – Shanghai.
East Imperial is creating a stir on what a traditional Gin & Tonic is, where Gin Jubilee is a means to unveil this exciting evolution.
Bringing together some of the world’s finest gins and the region’s leading bars and bartenders, the annual gin festival is attended by a myriad of gin novices and enthusiasts alike.
The East Imperial Gin Jubilee aims to boost gin knowledge and appreciation across multiple venues where people come together to sample innovative variations of the classic Gin & Tonic.
Kuala Lumpur Jubilee Activities
To kick-start the celebrations across Asia, first up is the East Imperial Gin Jubilee in Kuala Lumpur. Events catered for all gin enthusiasts will happen across four days from September 13, 2017 to September 16, 2017 across the city.
Beginning with a Masterclass with Sam Egerton, one of the visionaries behind the recently opened Charlie Parker’s bar in Sydney, on 13 September, in collaboration with St. George Gin, fans of gin and ardent imbibers can expect a series of activities, from pop-up bars including the Sail The West Winds at Locker & Loft and the Kyrö Guest Shift with Mauricio Allende at Skullduggery, and more masterclasses like the Citadelle Gin Masterclass with Micaela Piccolo, Maison Ferrand’s Asia Pacific Brand Ambassador, and An Evening with Tasha Lu, the Regional Brand Ambassador of Hendrick’s Gin, in partnership with gin brand ambassadors and local bartenders, where the events will be held at numerous bars in the city.
East Imperial is collaborating with the flourishing local bar scene with leading craft spirits distributor Wholly Spirits to present the Kuala Lumpur Jubilee. The festival will include a city-wide ‘Best Gin & Tonic’ competition for local bars, and a Gin Ramble bar crawl.
The 4-day long celebration concludes in the Gin Lane Street Party where pop-up bars and gin brands will be set up to resemble the now-iconic Gin Lane street party, held annually at Keong Saik, Singapore.
Entry to Gin Lane is complimentary, and gin enthusiasts have the opportunity to try out some of the participating bars’ Gin & Tonic creations in the run for ‘Best Gin & Tonic’ in Kuala Lumpur. The winner of the competition will be announced on 17 September 2017.
