Between Steps: Choo Youngwoo and Kim Sohyun’s New Korean Melodrama Arrives on Disney+
Korean drama fans have another emotional romance to look forward to this October as Between Steps makes its debut on Disney+ on October 5, 2026.

Choo Youngwoo takes on the role of Park Minjae, a doctoral candidate who teaches at a university robotics lab. Once an aspiring professional swimmer, Minjae’s dreams of pursuing a career in sports were shattered after he lost his leg.
The experience leaves a lasting impact on him. Reserved and cautious, Minjae becomes afraid of getting hurt and chooses to stay away from romantic relationships altogether.
Things begin to change when Lim Youjin, played by Kim Sohyun, unexpectedly enters his life.
Youjin is a former Clothing & Textiles student who finds herself forced into a completely different direction after being prevented from graduating. Known for being outspoken and branded as something of a troublemaker, she is almost the complete opposite of the quiet and cautious Minjae.
Naturally, their first encounters are far from smooth.
When Two Completely Different People Meet
At first, Minjae and Youjin struggle to connect. Their personalities, backgrounds and approaches to life create an awkward distance between them.
But as they spend more time together, that distance slowly begins to disappear.
What starts as an unlikely relationship gradually develops into an unexpected attraction. Between Steps looks set to explore how two people who have experienced disappointment and uncertainty can find comfort in each other.
Rather than presenting a perfect romance, the series appears to focus on the emotional journey of two imperfect people learning how to take another step forward.
A Strong Creative Team Behind the Drama
Between Steps is written by Min Hyojung, whose previous credits include Korean classics such as Attic Cat and Full House.
The drama is directed by Ahn Pansuk, known for acclaimed productions including The White Tower, Secret Love Affair and Heard It Through the Grapevine.
