Borderlands 4 Introduces Bounty Pack 3

Gearbox Software and 2K have released the highly anticipated Version 1.8 update for Borderlands 4, bringing a massive wave of both premium and free content for players across Kairos.

The latest update introduces a brand-new story expansion, an intense endgame raid, the return of a fan-favourite game mode, and one of the community’s most requested features: Cross-Platform Saves.

Whether you’re a dedicated Vault Hunter chasing the best loot or a returning player looking for fresh adventures, Version 1.8 delivers plenty of reasons to jump back into the chaotic world of Borderlands 4.

Enter the Neon-Noir Mystery of A Zane to Kill For

Leading the update is Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For, the latest narrative expansion available for Borderlands 4.

This new adventure takes players into a stylish neon-noir arcade game where they must investigate a bizarre murder mystery involving Zane’s Digi-Clone backup. As expected from a Borderlands storyline, things quickly spiral into madness, packed with humour, action, and plenty of surprises.

The repeatable mission introduces:

  • A brand-new boss encounter
  • Two new mini-bosses
  • High-tier loot rewards
  • Additional replayability for endgame players

Alongside the expansion comes Vault Card 3, which features an arcade-inspired theme and allows players to unlock new rewards through gameplay. The latest Vault Card includes 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear, giving players even more reasons to keep grinding.

For the first time, both the narrative expansion and Vault Card can be purchased separately, offering greater flexibility for players who want specific content.

Cross-Platform Saves Finally Arrive

One of the biggest additions in Version 1.8 is the official rollout of Cross-Platform Saves.

This feature allows players to seamlessly transfer their progress between platforms, making it easier than ever to continue their Vault Hunter journey regardless of where they choose to play.

Whether switching from console to PC or moving between supported platforms, players can now carry their characters, progression, and achievements with them.

The feature has been highly requested by the Borderlands community and marks a significant step forward in improving accessibility and player convenience.

Brave the Takedown at Hadron Abyss

Perhaps the most exciting free addition in the update is the Takedown at Hadron Abyss, a brand-new endgame raid available to all players who have completed the main campaign.

Accessible through Raid Boards located in major hubs, the challenge sends players deep into Hadron Abyss, a secret underwater research facility filled with horrifying mutations and deadly aquatic predators.

Designed as one of the toughest activities in the game, the raid pushes players to maximise their builds, skills, and teamwork as they battle through waves of enemies before facing the terrifying final boss, the Child of Terramorphous.

The challenge becomes even more intense thanks to:

  • Dynamic enemy scaling based on party size
  • Optional Mayhem Levels
  • Hardcore Mode with a single life
  • Dedicated boss loot drops

The new raid rewards players with some of the most desirable equipment currently available in Borderlands 4.

New Weapons and Legendary Gear Await

The Hadron Abyss raid introduces an impressive collection of powerful new loot.

Among the highlights is the new Pearlescent weapon, Shark Bait, a Tediore shotgun capable of applying Chum stacks that eventually trigger devastating explosions.

Players can also collect nine new Legendary items, including the Ishmael sniper rifle, Shoals pistol, Marshall’s Claw sniper rifle, Swan Song shotgun, and Fishward assault rifle.

Additional rewards include:

  • Little Sister Shield
  • Vitae Repkit
  • Ordinance Grenade
  • Draupner Heavy Weapon

The update also introduces five new Class Mods tailored to the current roster of Vault Hunters. A sixth Class Mod will arrive later this year alongside the introduction of a new playable character.

Circle of Slaughter Returns

Fans of Borderlands 3 will be delighted to see the return of Circle of Slaughter.

Reimagined for Borderlands 4 and completely free for all players, this wave-based survival mode challenges players to survive five rounds consisting of three increasingly difficult enemy waves.

At the end of each round, players must make a crucial decision: collect their rewards and leave, or continue deeper into the challenge for even greater loot.

One of the mode’s most entertaining features is its revamped co-op system. Eliminated teammates are sent to a penalty box where they can spectate the action and interact with the battlefield.

Players can trigger special effects such as:

  • Confetti showers
  • Elemental hazards
  • Explosive barrels
  • Additional enemy spawns

This creates a unique mix of cooperation, chaos, and comedy that perfectly captures the Borderlands experience.

Thanks to its endless replayability and generous loot opportunities, Circle of Slaughter is expected to become a favourite destination for endgame players.

More Content Coming Soon

The future of Borderlands 4 looks even brighter as Gearbox has already outlined its next wave of post-launch content.

On July 30, players can look forward to Bounty Pack 4: Murders & Acquisitions, launching alongside Version 1.9.

Then, in early September, Bounty Pack 5 and Story Pack 2 will introduce a brand-new playable Vault Hunter known as Loveless the Hacker.

Loveless is a former Anshin hacker turned assassin who utilizes advanced cybernetics and a powerful digital virus capable of manifesting into physical form. This unique companion acts as an extension of her personality and combat abilities, making her one of the most intriguing Vault Hunters introduced so far.

A Massive Update for Borderlands Fans

Version 1.8 is easily one of the most substantial updates Borderlands 4 has received since launch. Between the new narrative campaign, Cross-Platform Saves, challenging Hadron Abyss raid, returning Circle of Slaughter mode, and upcoming roadmap content, players have plenty to explore in the months ahead.

For longtime fans and newcomers alike, Borderlands 4 continues to expand its universe with fresh adventures, rewarding endgame activities, and exciting new ways to experience the chaotic looter-shooter action the franchise is known for.
