Record-Breaking Lion Dance at KL Tower – Bringing Mid-Autumn Traditions to New Heights
Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in Kuala Lumpur reached new heights as LSH Capital Berhad celebrated the festival with a special carnival at the Sky Garden of Kuala Lumpur Tower.
Held on Saturday, 26 September 2026, the event was themed “Light Up the Night, Enjoy the Full Moon Above KL” and brought together invited guests and members of the media for an evening filled with cultural traditions, lanterns and panoramic views of the capital city.
Located 292 metres above ground, the Sky Garden provided a unique setting for the celebration. Traditionally performed on streets and in front of shops, the lion dance was given a spectacular new stage high above Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia Book of Records Achievement
The main highlight of the evening was a successful Malaysia Book of Records attempt by LSH Capital and Kuala Lumpur Tower.
The event officially recorded the “Highest Altitude Lion Dance Performance in a Skyscraper”, bringing one of Malaysia’s most recognisable cultural traditions to an extraordinary location above the city.
Beyond the spectacle, the lion dance also represents values such as discipline, teamwork and perseverance. These qualities have helped the traditional performance remain an important part of Malaysia’s multicultural heritage.
For LSH Capital, the record-setting performance was also an opportunity to support cultural heritage preservation while encouraging community engagement through a celebration centred around reunion and togetherness.
Lantern Walkabout Under the Kuala Lumpur Skyline
Guests were also invited to participate in a Lantern Walkabout, another much-loved Mid-Autumn tradition.
Carrying their own lanterns, guests made their way around the Sky Garden while enjoying the Kuala Lumpur skyline from an elevated vantage point. The glowing lanterns added to the festive atmosphere and complemented the carnival’s “Light Up the Night” theme.
The combination of traditional cultural activities and the modern setting of Kuala Lumpur Tower offered guests a different way to experience the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The celebration also comes as Kuala Lumpur Tower marks its 30th anniversary, with the iconic landmark continuing to expand its attractions and experiences for visitors.
