Sultan Nazrin Unveils Malaysia’s Largest Harimau Malaya Canvas

DYMM Seri Paduka Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today launched Malaysia’s largest Harimau Malaya canvas painting as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by AmanahRaya-Kenedix REIT Manager Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Amanah Raya Berhad.

The launch event, held at Vista Tower, The Intermark in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by prominent figures, including AmanahRaya Chairman, Tan Sri Idrus Bin Harun, AmanahRaya Group Managing Director Encik Ahmad Feizal Sulaiman Khan, Managing Director of AmanahRaya-Kenedix, YM Tunku Rozita Tunku Abdul Malek, as well as members of the AmanahRaya Group Board of Directors.

In his speech, Tan Sri Idrus Harun highlighted AmanahRaya-Kenedix’s commitment to the “Harimau Malaya Conservation” campaign. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Persatuan Pelindung Harimau Malaya (RIMAU), aims to raise public awareness about the urgent need to conserve the Malayan tiger (Panthera Tigris Jacksoni).

The campaign underscores the critical decline of this iconic species, with the Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks (Perhilitan) reporting a drop from around 1,000 wild Malayan tigers in the 1970s to fewer than 150 today, largely due to illegal hunting and habitat loss.

Tan Sri Idrus also emphasized the importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices within corporate entities, noting that initiatives like this reflect the company’s dedication to these values, involving both employees and stakeholders.

YM Tunku Rozita, in her address, discussed the significance of the Harimau Malaya painting, which spans 16 canvases and covers a total area of 23 square meters. This artwork is part of AmanahRaya-Kenedix’s proactive efforts, in partnership with RIMAU, to promote the conservation of the Malayan tiger, a species crucial to the biodiversity and sustainability of Malaysia’s forests.

The exhibition of Malayan tiger-themed artwork, which began today, offers the public an opportunity to purchase these pieces, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the Malayan Tiger Conservation Campaign Fund (RIMAU).

The painting, crafted by renowned Malaysian mural artist Puan Lina Ali, was a collaborative effort completed with the help of AmanahRaya Group’s management and staff during a CSR-Harimau Malaya painting project held from May 30 to 31, 2024.

This CSR initiative not only showcases a beautiful piece of art but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving Malaysia’s natural heritage and the vital role that corporate entities can play in environmental conservation.
