UNIQLO Launches New ‘Doraemon Sustainability Mode’ Products

UNIQLO Doraemon Sustainability Mode

On Monday June 5, UNIQLO will launch a range of newly designed, 100% recycled polyester products (T-shirts and a pocketable bag) featuring UNIQLO Global Sustainability Ambassador Doraemon in his green ‘Sustainability Mode’ appearance.

Products featuring the famous cartoon character will be released to coincide with World Environment Day and the start of the summer 2023 round of JOIN: THE POWER OF CLOTHING, UNIQLO’s campaign to encourage customer participation in sustainability activities.

During the campaign period from June 5 (Monday) to July 4 (Tuesday), a donation will be made when customers purchase eligible UNIQLO products.

For each Doraemon Sustainability Mode product sold — as well as MENS and KIDS DRY-EX T-shirts, which are partially made from recycled polyester — a donation of US$1 will be made to Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU), which will be used for educational programs to teach children about the problem of ocean pollution.

Doraemon Sustainability Mode products will be available from UNIQLO stores throughout Malaysia as well as from the online store.

About JOIN: THE POWER OF CLOTHING

Launched in 2022, JOIN: THE POWER OF CLOTHING is a customer participation project by UNIQLO that connects the power of clothing with sustainable actions.

The company hopes that through this project people will take an interest in the problem of ocean pollution, and that more opportunities for small individual actions will be created.

On the JOIN: THE POWER OF CLOTHING website, UNIQLO has published content that teaches visitors about ocean pollution — featuring interviews with experts, videos to learn more about the problem, and advice on reducing plastic waste in our daily lives.

The website also includes a report of the donations collected during the 2022 round of the campaign, which totaled US$2 million.
