Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) has once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the marketability of Malaysian Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

In collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (MDT COL), Lotus’s Malaysia has launched its seventh Buy Malaysian Products Campaign at Lotus’s Setia Alam.

This campaign offers an exciting array of activities for consumers, including product showcases, cooking demonstrations, sampling sessions, and special promotions.

These events provide an excellent opportunity for customers to purchase high-quality products directly from participating SMEs at affordable prices. This initiative is also pivotal in supporting the Malaysian government’s efforts to drive domestic economic growth, primarily by strengthening Lotus’s partnerships with local SME suppliers.

Lotus’s Malaysia acknowledges the crucial role local SMEs play in national development and remains dedicated to helping customers get the best value for their money amid rising inflation and living costs.

Currently, local SMEs account for 20 percent of Lotus’s total suppliers, offering more than 1,200 products ranging from cooking essentials, ready-to-eat meals, and frozen foods to household items, personal care, and health products.

“As a strategic partner to the Ministry, we are committed to increasing the marketability and participation of local brands within our network of stores. Additionally, we aim to support SMEs in developing the capability to deliver products that meet consumer demands,” said Lotus’s Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Saksit Panurach.

In July 2024, Lotus’s organized an SME empowerment seminar that attracted over 140 local SMEs. This seminar not only provided SMEs with valuable information about supply opportunities but also addressed common challenges they face.

Lotus’s emphasizes that achieving a successful product listing is just the beginning of an exciting journey, requiring dedication and hard work to become a recognized homegrown brand. As part of the campaign, 19 SMEs have been given the opportunity to showcase their products to customers until August 18, with the possibility of becoming a Lotus’s supplier.

During the event, Lotus’s and MDT COL also recognized the achievements of 20 existing SME suppliers for their consistent service and sales performance in 2023. Additionally, the retailer welcomed 16 new SME suppliers to the Lotus’s SME network for 2024.

The event also featured four local social enterprises, offering them a platform to showcase their products and services. This initiative aims to foster job creation, boost economic activity, and enhance food security in the community.
